Big brake kits!! What do ya'll suggest?
Hey guys, I've got a 2010 SS that's pulling about 621RWHP and somehow foolish me forgot about upgrading my brakes!! So basically I now react like
whenever i gotta brake now. I would've loved to have gone with the CTS-V brakes as recommended in some of the other threads, however the price tag on em is a bit too steep. I'm considering Baer, Brembo upgrades and Stop-Tech. I'm looking to upgrade the full brake kit (Calipers, pads, rotors and brake lines if need be)....so which of the above would you recommend (I'm open to "other than the above" options too)? Mind you, I don't go tracking. P.S. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could give your suggestions with specifics like model numbers of the brand you have chosen/suggested. Look forward to some super feedback!

2K for CTSV upgrade is by far the cheapest solution. You can however get some significant improvement by going to a performance pad, fluid and ss brake lines.
Otherwise get the credit card out and choke up 4k. |

If not going to the road track, then simple upgrades like fluids/pads/lines etc is more than enough to stop your car. You don't even need to do any upgrades for the occasional drag run.
But to answer your question about brake systems, I have the BBK from StopTech. 380 mm rotors up front and 360 mm rotors out back. Couldn't be happier at the track.

I agree with this if you are not tracking a lot. I got some dimpled and slotted rotors (http://brakeperformance.com/), Hawk ceramic pads and stainless lines. She will brake hard without any issues. |

The long story short is that the real benefit from a big brake kit is the repeatability of the brakes in extreme circumstances. A quality brake line/pad/rotor upgrade on the factory calipers will keep a street car happy until you start REPEATEDLY slowing the car from 100+ like you would on track. You don't NEED big brakes until you start really beating on them at the track, some money invested wisely in good components will keep a street car performing great! For a budget big brake kit we would suggest the JDP upgrade path to CTS-V parts. We ran CTS-V brakes on our RingSpec Camaro, and given proper pad selection we really loved the setup for street and occasional track use. However if you were going to spend most of your time on track and actually needed a competition caliber brake upgrade our favorite is the Brembo 380 Front/360 Rear setup. We've been running this setup on race Corvettes for years, and even though it's expensive it's definitely the best brake kit that we've used. |

Thanks for your feedback guys...I'll see what I can make out of all that you had to share. But still, no support for Baer? Really?

You're not surpassing the capabilities of the stock brakes so you won't pass the capabilities of an aftermarket setup. If you really want to spend that much for no benefit buy whichever you think looks pretty.
