Paint protection film has been on the market for 20 years. It has improved greatly over the last few years and you would be hard pressed to find a high end car without it. So that should tell you it works and there are not any issues with it. If there were the industry would haev died out long ago. |

Getting Xpel Ultimate put on next week. I agree with Texas_venom, My guys has pics of where he took the cover off and you can't tell a difference in color whatsoever. A little pricy, but as he said to me before I actually walked in his door "You get what you pay for when it comes to clear bras". Ten year guarantee works for me. My guy's been doing this for 35 years. He said he tried all and this is the best he's used. I'll post final price when I get it back. Estimate 1400 for upper and lower bumper, full gill area, door cups, all front lighting, luggage area, rocker panels, quarter panels.

Go for it. I wouldn't have a car that I cared about without it. Stay away from 3M film. Wish you lived in Texas about could Texas Venom to do your install he is fantastic. I have an Inferno Orange also and my looks great. Much better than that 3M on my 08 Vette.

This is wrong. My Xpel ultimate is not only every bit as glossy as the paint, is crystal clear, and it actually has LESS orange peel than the paint itself. If you get a good clear bra it'll actually make the paint look better than without.

Choose your installer very carefully after talking to his previous customers and looking at their installs. I didn't and the very lousy install job on my '06 Corvette LeMans Blue still pisses me off every time I look at it. Complete waste if a thousand bucks.

This is my biggest question/concern. I want to protect the hood paint, but would rather not cover the stripe decal. Is there a feasible way to do this or is it even recommended? Seems like it would be difficult to install a clear bra on ONLY the part of the hood that doesn't have a decal on it.
Can anyone comment on this? |

I think you would end up with tiny air bubbles along the edges of the stripes if you chhose to cover them. If you want the clear bra on the hood, you would probably be better off to have the stripes removed, have the clear bra installed, and then the stripes reinstalled over top of the clear bra, although that will show a line through the stipe then where the bra is under it.

I drive this car all year round and it's almost all freeway. I drive when it's sunny, rain and sometimes snow if I get caught in it. Anyway, my last car front end looked like someone put a sand blaster to it. When I got my camaro about a month ago I was going to do my best to protect the best as I can. I thought about the 3M film but it does have a seam and the seam does catch some dirt after awhile. I had this done on my truck when I had it and it did it's job but you know it's there. I decided to have a body shop spray the film on instead. They removed the front piece and my mirrors and then sprayed them off the car. Now there is no seams and it looks great. You could barely tell it's on there. If someone doesn't know it's there they can't tell the difference. Cost a little more but to me it's worth it and far cheaper then painting the front end every year or so. To your question, yes it's worth it either way you go. Hope this helps.
