what i was trying to say is if you have a current cai, and then bought this product, what would happen to your old cai/air filter that you paid lets say $300 for..now you need to buy the NEW product, and take a loss on the old cai/air filter.

Exactly... People do it everyday. Some intakes seem to be worth more used than others... It's not uncommon to get 75%+ of your money back from selling your used intake.
