Governer/speed limiter ?!?!

I was cruising on the highway, and when I reached 118 mph The dash said "speed limited to 118." Is there a way I can easily remove the speed limiter?

Yes, its done at the dealer for a fee. Sorry :/ Or maybe a tune would do it but you run the risk of VOIDed warranty.

RS package allows you to go max 145 mph. You could get some better rims or tires and tune your car

I know I always get to 118 moh while just cruising around, and feel your pain with the governor. I'm sure the cup holders bother you in that they don't hold 40 0z cans of beer or bottles of hard liquor, and the trunk size is limiting on how much marijuana you can carry with the body of a dead hooker and some illegal weapons in there.

Does this sound silly? Your complaint about only going 118 miles an hour while out cruising sounds about that silly to me....it's almost double the legal limit and will get you arrested and your car impounded in most places. Why not go to a track if you're feeling the need for speed.

There's easy solutions to all those pesky problems. Before you drive, just guzzle down a standard 12 ounce beer then refill the can with whiskey. It will fit in the cup holder, no problem. You can easily fit a couple of AK-47's in the back seat, plus they will be within easy reach in case you get pulled over and need to get into a shoot-out with the cops. If your dead hooker is on the tall side, simply use a saw to dismember the body. She (or he, if that's what you're into) will easily fit in the trunk now. Leave your weed home. It is medicine and should not be abused for recreational purposes.

Don't forget to add, you could always get the ZL1 coupe because there is no limiter on it.

Tuning it out is the only way. People will give you a hard time about driving reckless because...well it's reckless.

Be aware that your tires are T rated which means they are good for 118mph. I'm not saying they'll explode at 119 but if I was going to tune my limiter out I'd think about getting some H rated or better tires.

118mph??? Who needs to go that fast on a public street or highway??? Yah yah, I know, just wanted to see if you could do it, everyone has been there and the same reasons why do people need to go fast? Because they can. I did 118 once and haven't since. I have my motorcycle that does 188 mph and I never do that, but I know I can.

I did 118 in mine once just to say I did. Otherwise I dont have any use for a higher limiter.

I've never been over a 100mph in any of my cars ... All of them are able to do 150+ but no need to be stupid, but like knowing if the Zombies are chasing me I got a little something for them.

So the answer is that the dealer will do it for a fee, and he should get some different tires.

Does this limit occur on the LT2?
