Does this limit occur on the LT2?
The answer is no he won't, it is considered a tune and will void your warranty.

And I bet you still had pedal left ... Theses cars feel the same doing 100 as they do 30, just so stable.

I know I am going to see about having mine removed. I would like to go Nebraska and run the sand dunes course....it just seems like it would be a real adrenalin rush. I realize that I will have to upgrade my tires for it .

The dealer is ordering some winter tires for my SS. He cautioned me that they were only rated for 149 mph, but he thought that should be enough for winter driving.

Camaro SS's have gone 172 mph with no mods other than speed limiter removed.
I believe stock ZL1 have gone in the 180s range. You'd expect it to go faster due to having 580hp, but I guess the gearing, etc becomes an issue.

It is true.
If you have a safe controlled spot (abandoned runway, race events, etc) you'll quickly learn how slow 100mph really feels in these cars.
I don't get the "WOW I'M GOING FAST" feeling until I get north of 135 mph or so. My top speed has been 164 mph so far.

I'm hoping to run my car in some top speed mile events.

Even 118 in my little V6 doesn't feel "unsafe", meaning I've heard stories of other cars getting loose or shaking at speeds over 100mph. I'm not really ready to tune it yet but when I do I'll venture to the limits of the otherwise stock LFX.

See this is bs, 100 mph in a bolt on SS is so easy to reach and you dont even realize it.

For instance if your on the open highway and just keep putting your foot down in sixth, not all the way just maybe an additional inch, the car will quickly get to 100 before you have even realized you were really adding throttle.

Secondly if your on the high way crusing say at 70 and go to pass to the outside and drop into 5th and give her some your up in the 90's + almost to 100 before you realize, and say OH SH*T. WHOOPS

The Second one happens to me on a daily... hahhaa

Be aware that your tires are T rated which means they are good for 118mph. I'm not saying they'll explode at 119 but if I was going to tune my limiter out I'd think about getting some H rated or better tires.
Thanks man, I'm gonna have to look into it.

Just a note about the 118 mph, I was going up the interstate in Virgina last weekend running along with a BMW and moving at 118 and then we slowed down but by no means pushing it to the floor and after I backed off I said to my wife how fast we were going and she had no idea that we were not going the speed limit of 70-90

What road were you on that the speed limit is 70-90 in Virginia?
