They've all been mentioned but I'll list again in no particular order:

1) Colt 6920
2) BCM
3) Daniel Defense

All are top tier ARs and well within your budget. I personally own the Colt.

Re building versus buying for a first AR, I recommend buying a complete rifle from above list that'll run like a champ right out of the box. As a new AR shooter you'll then get to learn how its supposed to work, what you like and dislike. THEN go build whatever you want 'cuz you'll want another!!! Or at least some mods...

Another amazingly educational site:

No more guns for a while, now it's mods for my car! Both of these hobbies are very expensive but damn they are fun and addicting!!
Haha I know how that goes man. I haven't bought any guns or gun parts since February since I've been working on the Camaro. Ammo gets expensive. I'm pretty well stocked right now if anything should arise. Picked up 5k rounds of .308 at the last gun show, have about 3k 9mm, 2k .45, and 500 12 gauge slugs and 500 of 00 buck. Spent more than I wanted to to stock up on the .308 but the prices just keep going up right now. Figured I'd stock up before it gets too much more ridiculous. 9mm and .45 I've been collecting small amounts over the last couple years.

As for the .416 Barrett project, I can't wait to finish that beast. 416 Barrett is far superior to the .50 cal round. 416 has a higher muzzle velocity and better ballistic performance than the .50. Muzzle velocity of 3,250 ft/s is capable of keeping a 400 grain bullet supersonic over 2500 yards. I'll never need it but it'll be cool to have.

Beware, you won't save any money reloading, you will just shoot more for your money. I am *almost* ready for the zombies, just need to load up a few more rounds. Come to think of it, I have three boys, three machines and each of them working a 6 hour shift reloading a day... I would make them work 8, but they do have school to fit in there too.
That is an awesome reloading setup. I've got tons of brass I need to do. Just need to buy the equipment.

lmao you sound as bad as me! I think I have about 10k rounds between my 9mm, .40, .45, .223, .270 and 12 gage. But could always use more!! The more ammo you get the more you need.....Not sure where you buy yours but obviously gun shows are the best bet but bulkammo.com is another decent place to buy if you need some and there isnt a show for a while.

I got started with the Dillon 550, then got the 650, and just got the 1050 last month. I really did get the reloading stuff because as much as I shoot, it was too expensive to but. I can reload 1000 .223 for ~$170.
