Rebuttal Letter from Ed Wellburn regarding GM's design direction

If you'd take a little time to really read what I wrote, you'd see the point is that the original letter obviously was so baseless as to not warrant response. I was using "waste of time" as symbolism to illustrate the idiocy of the criticism. It's really not that difficult... If anyone is so ignorant as to be "swayed" by such absurdity, then I assure you that Welburn's letter isn't going to affect them one bit, even if they could understand it. ...

As to educating the moron: do you REALLY think the moron has been educated; do you really think he's changed his mind?

But the real point of my comment was to highlight that the original letter was so ridiculous that it didn't deserve such an articulate response.

Again, let me hold your hand and walk you through it. If one of the semi-literate kids that populate this forum spewed out a critique of GM in the ever so popular text message jargon, such as : "gm, U suck 4evr", do you think Welburn should stop-down and respond? Are you kind of getting it now?

Sorry some were unable to grasp my message; there are those who are so focused on being a zealot that they choose to ignore the obvious in an attempt to make a statement.

Ed has always impressed me as a very classy, very eloquent man. He could head up GM's PR department just as well as Design.

I'd also like to say that when I think GM, the first thing I think of is Design. In my opinion, that was its greatest asset until the mid-70s, and it is once again its greatest asset today. If you want good looks in a mainstream car, GM has the best.

Forget the idiot who sparked off the rebuttal

That letter will get a lot of airtime and be seen by far more folks than the venom which invoked it - and it does help enforce GM's new agenda.

If Mr. Wellburn and other top GM employees would work instead of rebuttal every negative comment they get, maybe GM wouldn't be in this mess?

Writing this letter proves nothing; GM people will drool over it and non-GM people will consider it a waste of time. I, being on the fence, consider it a waste of time. Don't talk the talk Wellburn, walk the walk. You can say whatever you want but only GM's future success will be able to prove people wrong.

I thought it was a great letter. I can't blame him for standing up for what he believes in. He's been at GM a long time, hasn't he? There's no way I could've replied better than that.

My hat is off to that gentleman.
