2013 Non-BA Remote amp wire drama

OK, so I bought Steve @********s non-ba wiring harness. He has sold a few others and they have all worked fine to his knowledge.

I, however, have a 2013 and we are thinking that maybe there is a difference since 2012 and earliers decks.

What happens is when I disconnect the faceplate, the remote turn on for the amp outputs 12.80 volts like it should. If I reconnect the faceplate connector the voltage drops to ~0.18v so the amp won't come on.

Steve and I have tried quite a few things and we have come to the conclusion that there must be something different in the 2013 Non-BA stereos. Any ideas? I would like to solve this rather than run a new remote wire for Steve, myself and all the other Camaro guys/girls who might run into this.

Feel free to offer any solutions/ideas/tests.

Thanks!

I have been talking to Steve and 2SSRS about this today. 2SSRS thinks that there are two connectors on the radio face plate. There is only one on the 2010-2012 models.

Can you verify this? Please post pictures of the connectors (partly for curiosities sake). Have you tried just connecting one connector to see which one is causing the voltage drop?

2SSRS has confirmed that the pin used for the remote amp signal is still as remote amp signal on the 2013 Camaro, so there is no potential harm from the harness. It's just not working as expected.

As a side note, I noticed a wire on the face plate connector that is straight *melted*. I think it used to be white, it is kind of a burnt orange now I will get a picture of it here in an hour or so when I run to the store.

Which connector are you wanting a picture of?

Edit: My face plate has one connector.

The more pictures the better. I'm working with a 2010, and the only info on the 2013 I have seen is for the MyLink setup.

A picture of the back of the radio and the back of the face plate would be helpful.

Oh my, I just finally got it all put back together, too lol. I will see if I can get a bunch of pictures tonight, but I may not be able to. I live in an apartment and have to go over to my office parking garage to do this stuff so noone knows I have stereo stuff and makes it disappear.

Not really, I live in an apartment, so I can't really do anything until I get time to go somewhere that nobody can see what I am doing. I hope to be able to go up to a buddies house this weekend. But the wife is trying to talk me into going on a road trip to Savannah, so who knows. lol

On a side note, on my (1) face plate connector, one of the wires had the sh!t melted out of it. I will get a picture of that, too, when I can.

So you've been going without a radio this whole time? Or did you just bypass the harness?
