You will want to get a skip shift kit. Skip shift will come up on the display and you have to go 1st to 4th if it tells you to. Trying to force it into second will break the transmission.

With the skip shift kit it will tell you to skip shift but you do not need to anymore.

Until you get the kit keep it in first at a higher RPM till skip shift display goes away then go to second.

Be careful of the clutch. When the car is brand new and not broken in, it's very sensitive and takes getting used to. I've driven stick for years but when I picked up my 2SS it took a while to get used to.

^ And the clutch will probably smell for the first 1000 miles or so.

When I upgraded to the V8 it was the first manual I had every drove aside from the 1 time my roommate gave me a "crash course" I stalled out at every light lol. But I got the hang of it fairly quickly.

So much easier to drive than a Mini. Your SS has torque! Hard to stall.

I thought if you keep the revs up skip shift gets skipped, while I have not driven a manual in nearly 12 years I did drive tractor/trailer for 10 years and had a car with manual so I think that when I can get a new Camaro driving it will not be an issue.

I haven't had a manual since 1996, but it comes back quick. this car has enough torque to forgive all but the worst launches. As I left the dealership the first night, I backed off the patio and killed it as I went forward because I'd stopped with my front tires against a speed bump! Wasn't too embarrassed, except one of the punk-ass dealers posted it on YouTube!

Ok... wth is this skip shift stuff? Going from 1st to second breaks the transmission if it wants you to go to 4th? Why is it telling you to go to 4th?

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

When I bought my ss it had been 15 years since I had a manual. A little jerky in the beginning but doesn't take long to get used to the Chevy clutch.

I hadn't driven a stick in over 20 years. It's like riding a bike.
