Wrinkled leather claim denied

I took in my car to get serviced today for several minor issues, one was wrinkled/chiped leather on the driver seats. I had read threads where the members had succesfully had their seat covers replaced due to similar issues. Well apperantly im not that lucky. The dealer indicated that the seats are a wear and tear item and that warranty would not cover the repair. It's funny how they made it seem like my car was ancient when they tried to justify their answer " its expected for a car that old with that type of mileage" it only has 22000 miles!!! I guess i just expected better quality "leather".

how often do you condition your leather? is it out in the sun or garaged? i mean that is bad after only 22,000 miles, ive seen cars with 120,000 miles look like that. i mean geez

I don't garaged the car, but I dont think its due to the sun because the rest of the seat is perfect and the passanger seat is not like that either. I use leather protectant on the seats when I wash the car.

I would definitely try another dealer. That is not normal wear.

Update

I contacted customer service which in return contacted the dealer, but the issue was not resolved. Customer service indicated that they rely on the dealer to make these type of determinations and because the issue is due to wear it is not covered. Customer service indicated that would be all they could do for me. I personally talked to the service manager also and he explained to me that GM would not reimburst the dealer if they were to replace my seat cover and that he would not be able to do anything else for me.

Thanks for your advice guys I will try another dealer next time I go in for service.

That looks as though it has been there ALWHILE, not something that just started.
You would have better luck having it noted early than now because it is so obvious as wear & tear

My 2000 Sebring vert looks like yours, only difference is mine has 150,000 miles. I bought it used a year and a half ago so I don't know the history of upkeep. That looks bad.

I use the Armorall leather protectant which indicates it cleans, conditions and protects.

It's from the way you are getting in and out of the car. The fix will be you, you will need to adjust yourself, wear different clothes, lose weight what ever it is that is causing the problem.
