Wash in winter?
I got a question for all you guys who drive your camaros (or other nicer car) during the winter. How do you guys wash it? I just got a new daily driver, and unlike the beater i had before, this thing is pretty nice. I dont like taking my cars to a car wash cause they either use jets with way-too-high pressure, or brushes that press way too hard, and every time i used to go to a regular car wash, more paint would be stripped off my car, and it would just look worse. Plus, i dont have money for them anyways. I wash all my cars by hand, but last winter i just had my beater, and i never washed that. But now i have a nice truck, and id like to wash it during the winter, but cant figure out how to do it on my own. My hose isnt heated, and its disconnected in the winter anyways
Any suggestions, BESIDES going to a car wash? Thanks!!

Depends on how cold it is. I will either go to an automatic touchless car wash or go to the pay and spray car wash.

Sorry, can't help ya much.
I bought a winter car (2005 Explorer) that I am not really concerned with the exterior condition. I have no problem running this through the car wash all winter long. On the bright side, it will give me something to practice my porter cable and swirl removal stuff on in the spring!

Not my Camaro, but when I drove my Monte in the winter I always waited for a warmer day that all the snow was melting a bit, then I'd wash her down and dry it and that was about it..
In Wisconsin it was always too cold to throw some quick wax on her or anything like that. |

I don't see where you have many options. It's either drive through wash or the .25 (more like $2 now) wash just to knock off the gunk ...

My Camaro is parked in the winter, but my wife drives her Audi Q5. Any day I am off work and its at freezing or above is a day I wash her car! Underneath, in the wheel wells, and the exterior....just to get the salt, slush, and winter shit off it even if its only for a day. I put the hose in the basement to melt any ice so its full speed ahead the day I want to wash.

Greetings to Fond du Lac! Where it is seriously cold.
This will be my fourth winter driving my Camaro and it is my daily driver. Like many of the good suggestions above, the fall prep work will pay off big time. Make sure it is waxed good and I also use a clear seal protectant. I will wash it during the winter in a totally touchless car wash as needed just to get a layer or two off, and they spray salt solution around here like crazy. I have had no problems that I couldn't fix in the spring with some more waxing, buffing or polishing. I use all Zaino products but I'm sure any high end products should help.

This!! CamaroDream turned me on to this. Its awesome. You can do so many different thing with it. Rinseless wash, clay bar lube, waterless wash, detail spray....Its great!!! I dont know if I would use it if your car was REAL dirty though. My car doesnt ever get real dirty so I really dont know how good it would work like that.
