I still think for less money you can get even more power with the SS and have a much more muscular looking car. The front end of the Mustang is OK, but the back end looks ugly and unfinished.......not for me, and I can afford it.

too bad they don't state what the correction factor was (if it truly was SAE). I would still go off of the SAE Certified HP... for now.

Is that the Boxter, or the Gayman? Yep, different class

I did not intend for this to become a GT500 vs Camaro thread. They are both fine automobiles with their own special appeal to buyers.

I posted it only for interest not as a point of contention. I do not plan to mod either my GT500 or my Camaro, both will remain bone stock and I think they are both excellent vehicles as is.

I shall refrain from posting any additional information with regard to the GT500. My apologies moderators

A Porsche? That is a car that is not worth the money if I ever saw one. Especially if performance is the goal. $49k gets you a pretty slow Porsche.

No way, keep posting. No one is offended about hearing about the GT500, just when people start being silly and trying to say "YEAH BUT I CAN MOD THE CAMARO..."

The GT500 is an awesome car. However, I can't imagine it being underrated when it's SAE certified.

I was pretty happy to see this post

Good to see the actual horsepower that a tuned camaro needs to compete with and the good news is we are already seeing lots of creative ways to get there already.

GT500 and Camaro SS with supercharger / tune / CAI etc will ultimately be about same price - so gets down to personal preference

Good news that some folks getting GT500s for near MSRP - the dealers round me tend to be more greedy

Choice is a wonderful thing

besides the fact porches offer great performance? for 65k total my dads cayman S is as fast as a camaro in a straight line and MUCH better in the turns. most porches are built for handling prowess not straight line speed.....dont diss them because they dont fit your style, porsches serve their purpose

Look at the LS1. SAE rated at 305 for 98 but often made 290-295 at the wheels.

I do agree with the awesome car part though.

The LS1 was NEVER SAE Certified.

I'm willing to bet that the average '10 GT500 will put down 475 rwhp.

So much for the SAE rating on 2010 GT500.......

Yep...seems again Ford underrated the new 2010 GT500. This article talks about the Dyno testing they did on a stock GT500, with multiple pulls. Have to say I was even surprised by this. The tech in the 2010 GT500 is very nice.

So now we actually have real numbers, and before we even start with a supercharged Maro, this post is just to get the CORRECT info our there so people who care can do the math.

Discuss.

Well I guess we will find out soon enough. 511 is a awesome number regardless. I cannot imagine that it will swing hard in one direction afterward. I'm thinking the average may be around 490~500 for the GT500 10's

At any rate that's a whole lot of car for the price. Also keep in mind the suspension upgrades as well as the newer interior on this model.
