I'd rather be trampled by wild horses than pay that much for insurance. Who is running that joint? Crazy Bobs insurance for all...

How about drive a PoS until he's 25 then buy a corvette? A 25 year old buying a corvette, just by not getting anally abused by insurance companies
The difference on the car running cost alone would be more than the total cost of a brand new Z06
Plus at 25 with a job, a corvette insurance won't even be over 2000.

It's his money, he can spend however he likes. On the other hand people can say whatever they think of him. Freedom is wonderful isn't it?
That's the whole point. Of course 13k a year is more than ridiculous. It's outstandingly ridiculous; (especially for a $40k car)
But most people here are bitching about him paying 4k for his V6, which is a great price for v6. I wish I had this premium.
Also, regarding your point about "drive POS until he's 25 then get a corvette"
I don't know how about you, but I think it is much nicer to drive a really good-looking car at 18-19, than a little bit better one at 25. :P

And yes, opportunities and business relationships good cars can present you can't be found elsewhere. I think by doing things and driving his fancy car he might get an opportunity to upgrade to a better car in a couple of years.

welcome to life in the real world ...you can thank every kid from 16 and up for your insurance being so high...and since you have no job do you think for a second any insurance company is going to wright you insurance that is cheap...look at it from their side ..."18 year old kid no job unable to show responsibilty loose on the streets with a high preformance car...bad combination..cost us alot if he messes up.....sorry but your automatic a bad risk just because of your age and lack of driving skills..and that sir in a nut shell is why the insurance is going to be threw the roof for you..it was that way when i was 18 and when my children where 18 it will be the same for you and your's down the road too

You could actually not be lazy and get a job?? Then your insurance would possibly go down because you would be showing some sort of responsibility. But your still a young driver with no skill in a fast car.

This is the true definition of ridiculous. I don't pay that much yearly for my FGT,Z06,and GS Vert.....combined.

And I'm referring to the $4k figure.

I pay more to insure my bone stock '06 3.0L Ford Ranger than my '10 supercharged Camaro, and my insurance covers all my modifications. Some of you are paying more for the insurance on your Camaro than I'm paying for all 3 of my cars, than again I'm an old fart.

I'm 22, both of my summer vehicles were purchased by me, with MY money (no mommy and daddy help what so ever), under my name (ownerships and insurance) and I pay just over 4000$ CAD to insure my 2009 Corvette Z06 and my 2010 Camaro SS for 6 months full coverage.

When both cars are put away for the winter with fire and theft still active, nothing else and the only active vehicle on my insurance is my winter beater which is a 2000 Grand Am GT Coupe this year, I pay 2300$ for 6 months with bare basic coverage.

So in total I pay just under 6500$ CAD to drive and that's the best price I found with the 3 tickets (minor offenses) that I have for the vehicles that I drive. Not to mention the gas prices here are around 1.40$/L which is almost or basically 5$/Gal for reg 87 octane fuel, close to 6$/Gal for 91 octane.

I don't get how a 22 year old could own those cars himself with no help. Unless you work for your parents and they overpay you or something. That's still them helping you.

My reg pay period consists of 80 hrs biweekly, I work minimum 115hrs biweekly, I'm usually brushing up on the 130 mark all the time, at my wage I can definitely afford those cars, and yes I'm a GM mechanic, nothing more, no side jobs.

My girlfriend makes more money then me she's an NP at the hospital and can work 100 hrs easily during her pay period, if she's at her clinic on her days off that's more cash right there.

My parents haven't given my a dime for anything for as long as I can remember, I just work my ass off because I'm young and I can work long hours, so can my girlfriend. We both like nice things, which means we have to work hard if we want them. I work at the dealer, I did get good price on both vehicles, stunning prices to be more precise but that's perks of job I guess!

I find the numbers here unbelievable....

years ago I called around and everyone wanted to charge me like $1000 every 6 months for a corrola, but after about the 5th company, think it was safe auto, they covered me for $250 every 6 months....its crazy what the price difference is. I didnt understand it then and I dont understand it now.......

only thing I can think is the VIN you gave them is pulling up as some other type of vehicle than what you have. Ive seen that before, where they think its a higher model than it actually is so they charge more.....

I want to see actual pictures of your bills before Ill believe $4000 a year for basic full coverage, you have to be getting something like the max full coverage with no deductible and mod coverage for 100k or something..or have 3 DUI's or something like that...just cover your name and address type info.....it just seems unbelievable to me.....

having a job or not wouldnt have any impact on the rate to any large degree I wouldnt think, if you pay your monthly then your covered, if not your not covered. I relize your basicly getting a loan if you dont pay in full, but its not like your financing a house....
