Three things to remember ...

#1 - There is no such thing as a bad student

#2 - It's just a car

I learned the day we picked up my moms new 6 speed Cooper S.

She's not gonna break it while learning. She'd break it if she constantly drove it poorly.
Good luck, and when you smell clutch, take a break.

your car is hopefully still under warranty. If she does kill the clutch take it in and replace it. Or buy a cheap manual beater, take her to a big empty parking lot and have fun! Use a go pro to share the fun!

She's not gonna kill the clutch! Have a little faith. It'll be okay.

They won't replace a clutch under warranty. It is considered like breaks and tires. Normal wear and tear can destroy it. So if the clutch goes bad its on your wallet to replace or have it replaced.

On a side note:
OP if something does go wrong with your clutch it gives you am excuse to buy a high performance one that you never have to worry about again

My brother and I learned on my dad's old car. The clutch was fine after that, and my brother was really bad at driving stick...

Well that sucks!! I have heard of a few dealers replacing the clutch under warranty tho, maybe they were just being nice to the customer? Who knows. Needless to say it would be a good time for an upgrade! or buy a cheap beater for less than the cost of a clutch.

LMAO!!

Too many great responses to re-list them all. Great advice from all. I'm a good enough teacher I think I'll be okay.. as long as she's being patient, and doing what I ask of her.

Yes, the wifes the one in the Sig.. as stated: "Wanting to spend the rest of my life with her". I'll tell her she has fans. It'll put a smile on her face more than likely.

Renting a car to learn on.. great idea, but as stated by others, good luck finding one nowadays.

Thank you for the great advice all, definitly helped me to lighten the mood I'm in (somewhat lightened the burden of my car's impending doom!!) And Yes, the Couch is definitly a lonely place!! Muahahah.

Well, now that we know its your wife in the sig. - My advice is keep her happy! One clutch would be a small price to pay.

On a serious note. It can be done. I taught my wife to drive a stick many years ago. And to be honest she is smoother on take off than me!

Just find a huge empty parking lot and be patient. The LS3 is such a torque beast that if she gets past the stall point on a slow roll that big ole motor will do the rest of the work.

Good luck and go for it. It could work out to your advantage as you never know when you will need a DD after that next party.
