How can I pass emissions test with box Lt headers

I installed my mrt v2 exhaust and k&n intake sound good on the v6 so far but I have obx long tube headers in my garage that I want to install. How can I get a emissions pass with these on my car? Will it be running too rich?

Each state/territory is different. I'd say take the test before installing the headers then right after you pass put them on, then you'll be good for another year

long tubes usually fail because of either a visual or lack of cats. If you have cats, and your O2 sensors are reporting, not reason to fail. We don't do tail pipe testing here for cars with OBD2, just hook it up to the computer, and if it reports everything ok, your good to go.

There's a good possibility that you'll get a CEL after the header install (I believe it's because of O2 sensor relocations). There will be some sort of emissions-related code being thrown, so passing the test would not be possible. You would have to install them and then probably tune the car (Trifecta, IPF) to get rid of the issue. Also - do they do a visual inspection of the exhaust system? Would they fail the car simply because of headers?

When I installed the exhaust Friday mechanic told me they were changing the way to do emissions in Ontario instead of doing a cynical run now there using a machine that hooks up to the cars computer.

Tuning the car will get rid if the codes?

Yes and no. Yes the codes will be cleared but depending on what they are looking for, you still might fail. A lot of times, they check that all systems of the car are ready and can have a max of 2 not ready and pass. Well a few members have had a problem with the trifecta tune having more than 2 not ready.

Emission testing doesn't start until the fifth year for new cars in Ontario. If you plan on keeping the car put the headers on enjoy them and if it doesn't pass in a few years just switch back for the e-test. Get this confirmed but I do not think you will have e-test that car till 2016.
