There are a lot of threads of people who did it, who can provide tips and other stuff like that. I did not even want to attempt this for a long time, but after reading threads for hours, and talking to some other members I feel pretty confident about the install...hopefully

During my Christmas break...... in a week or two. I will also do a full step by step photo process install here on Camaro 5 relying on the previous install info from the great people here who have used there info to help guide us thru it. It looks very tedious but doable. I plan on coming up with a slow methodical proceedure for the faint of heart to make it much easier to install. AND I want to make sure there are NO RATTLES or SQUEEKY noises coming from the dash after it is back together!!!!! That is very important to me!
If I can do it ....ANYONE can do it!!! Stay tuned!

Just got an update that mine should be shipped next week!!

My plan is a bunch of small baggies & note paper to keep track of what screws go where. Also clean out specific shelves in the garage to safely place everything. Then pictures & a lot of notes. I may start this weekend so I can take my time & go out and pick up any misc tools that would make it easier.

Also thinking about other minor things I can do while the dash is out for a few days.

Installed mine 2 days ago, had some help from one of our aircraft mechanics, all in all it went smoothly, the cutting was what took the longest. I was a little hesitant at first, due to the dismantle involved, but now glad I did it.

Good to hear. What do you think of the visual quality on the non-HUD windshield. Heard decent things, just wanted another opinion.

I would say that the display quality is almost as good as the factory option installed on the 2011 and up models. The clarity level of the display is more obvious to see in the dark or an overcast day, but in no way something that has me wishing I did not install it. Also some of the pictures you may of seen on this thread showing a picture of the display does not do it justice, it is difficult to take a sharp image of a reflection. Hope this helps out.

That is good to hear! I keep hearing people say that online pictures don't do it justice, but I am excited to see mine in person! Can't wait to do this install!

What I did was pull the shifter cover off plugged and checked if everything worked before Deming the dash. This will make sure you have a good Hud, control panel and harness. They should be good but it is good to check. Plus it will motivate you to get the job finished. Plus the battery will be disconnected by the time you have it all connected again.

Thanks for the head's up (pun!) - I was wondering how I could check to ensure it was all functional.

Killer deals on the HUDs for another 1.5hrs....

$370 for 1SS/1LT/LS guys
$350 for 2SS/2LT guys.

Thats shipped and with the harness. Killer!
There is a huge difference in cost of the non-HUD and the HUD windshield. I had to have my windshield replaced in my 2010 SS and it wasn't covered by my insurance. The 2010 windshield was $350, the 2011 windshield was $1,200.

We installed two yesterday. Now that i've had some time to see it in person i'll say this. The image that people are showing online IS representative of what it looks like. However, your eyes can't focus on it the same way they can a still picture, so that double imaging isn't as prevalent.

Then again, i'm really anal about that sort of thing. My co-installer, couldn't see the double image. It also depends on your eyes.

It definitely looks great regardless. I'll have to compare it to a "factory" hud soon.
