REARVIEW MIRROR CAMERA

I have a touchscreen pioneer navigation system installed on my 2012 ZL1. When I'm in reverse, the screen goes completely black reading "backup camera". How could I make the factory rear view camera work for both the mirror and the nag system? What accessories do I need?

Put it on the center console and get one of the new nifty rear view mirrors with no edges....

I like it being in my mirror, but when I get a new setup im going for the looks of the new rear view.

I'd post this in the Audio section of the forum to get more input from owners who have more experience in this area.

I only asked because maybe someone had already done it to his or hers but you're probably right. I installed the NAV system myself w/ METRA dash kit. I just don't know how it's even routed to the rearview mirror so I didn't want to mess with it unless I know for sure that it was even possible.

Ofer said that they are not plug and play for the mirrors. He's going to have to make and adapter for this to work on the 2012's. I want to do the same thing.

I like the backup camera in the rear view mirror than having it in the nav system because you are more aware of what is going on around you.

I think that you will have to splice the wire that goes from the rear view camera to the mirror and bring that signal to the Pioneer input for it , it goes black because there is no signal in to it .But again ask your installer about it .

I would think a splitter should work, its just video going from the camera correct? so running a lead from a splitter near the camera would work in theory...

This might work, then you have video in Nav unit and mirror?

Can you post a photo of the Nav system in your ZL1?

Find the yellow connector for camera and run a rca line to the back of the nav unit input. It should work.
