That's right. Unlike those that will eventually get a Camaro and are currently stuck in 1100 limbo, I'm still a year or so away from ordering a Camaro. And it's killing me. I see them at the dealership, test driven two already and am now giving my dealership a headache. They keep asking when I'll order and I can only respond "I really don't know."
I can't find a job here in Michigan because they're either taken by former paper pushers forced out by outsourcing. Not to mention that I have student loans to worry about too. It's just driving me off the wall day after day. It's now getting to the point where I'm either wasting time entering contest after contest to win one (knowing full well that it'll never happen) or wasting money on things like the Dr Pepper contest. It's almost like an addiction; and every day I'm losing sleep over not having one while almost everyone here has one. I know of others who are probably in a worse state so maybe I shouldn't complain as much; but still it's just something that almost consumes my daily life.. Ugh. Sorry for the rant but after sitting on this for MONTHS (indications like my Mustang Breakdown and Flippy Flop) I needed to get it off my chest. Last edited by Zabo; 06-15-2009 at 11:14 AM. |

Looks like I need to read more threads because I thought you were going to order a 5.0 when they came out using your plan discount. When and why did you decide not to do that?

Insurance prices (2x the price of an SS for a Mustang). It ended up being a wash (vehicle price wise) so I came back because if I'm going to spend the same on a Mustang or a Camaro..
You know where I'm gonna go. The only reason I picked the Coyote was because of the price. And that's not such a sweet deal anymore. But the real topic is me being starved of sport driving. An Explorer isn't the most powerful or agile vehicle, and I sold my bike a while back. Now I just feel left behind and languishing on the side of the road.. and it blows. |

And I'm not joking in the lightest. It's almost become too problematic for me, and seeing them some places just makes it worse; almost to the point of me wanting to shut myself in and not drive/ride anywhere. I need muscle, speed, power.. The Explorer doesn't and will never deliver. And the lack of a job only works to compound the stress. I'm just waiting to have to hit irpq up for some hair pieces after all of my hair falls out. |

Hang tough man.... they are going to be around a while. Improved on yearly and rag tops and maybe z-28's... You may have to relocate to find good work, God knows I've done that more times than I care to count.

I'm in the same boat, just not as bad as you. I am still a little while out from getting one. I am getting ready for a promotion in the next 2 months, and i am also engaged, so i need to be saving for that as well. I HAVE driven 3 different camaros, and everytime, it just makes me want one that much more. It just makes me work harder and save more each check. Motivation. It will all be worth it once we finally get into one my friend, keep the faith! Good luck on winning one as well! God knows i have entered a billion contests hoping to as well. Don't give up, just hang in there, your not the only one

So wait, you are still a student? Cause I mean if you have the choice of school or car, there is no shame in chosing school. School = better job which = car.
Just find any job that will hold your head above water. (Even flippin burgers if you HAVE to) I know waiting sucks, but hey, you can't always get what you want. And besides, if you never had to wait for anything or if life was always easy, the awesome things in life wouldn't seem as awesome. Sometimes it is the struggle and sacrifice that makes the reward even more rewarding. |

yea Zabo, freakin Mexicans...i'm mexican so i can say that. Dude, if you are still a student, a Camaro would be the least of my worries. concentrating on passing your classes, and getting good grades should be top priority. like a previous post said, graduating school gets you a good job, which then leads to a great car!

I am in the same boat as you guys though. I bought a car a couple of years ago and still owe around 10 grand on it. I drive about an hour to work each way and now have over 80,000 miles on the car. The transmission is starting to go on it as well. I fear that if we have to get the tranny replaced, and end up spending over a thousand or so on it, it'll be at least another year or two before I can even think of getting one of these beauties. It's torture I know but in the end, it'll be worth it. And by the way, I just got back from Youngstown, OH. On the way I saw a camaro and nearly ran off the road while craning my neck to see it going the other way on 76. Then, just as we are about to leave, my wife wants to get a bite to eat with her parents. Loving me as she does and knowing how much I like wings, we go to Quaker Steak and Lube (great wings place but watch the atomic ones) and as we are sitting there the place loads up with classic cars. On the way out, what's parked three spots from our car? A 2010 Camaro SS/RS in black. It was beautiful. And yes, there was a larger crowd around it than there was around any other car in the lot. That's saying something considering the cars that were there. It made my heart ache to see this thing sitting there. Jealousy coursed through my veins and there was an illogical yearning for something terrible to happen to it's owner. But then I made some quick conversation with the guy and a calm overcame me. The pride and contentment he felt was obvious and I knew then that, once I was an owner of one of these fine vehicles, I would feel the same way. It's just going to take some time. And when I am feeling that and the newness of the car is still as fresh as the new car smell, I'll feel that pride and contentment as well. |
