Fuel Cap Question

So as every owner knows the Fuel door is open for anyone to access. I've seen the different options on the door and none seem appealing one bit. I've been looking into a few Fuel Caps that have a key.

I was looking at this one
http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...FQ-f4AodwUAAzQ

I have a 2013 but I assume a 2010-11 will all be the same.

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

As always, thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!

Really wouldn't worry about it. Ever try to siphon gas out of a Camaro or similar car?

It certainly can be done, and don't wish to start a debate on it, but the odds of it happening are next to none.

Now then, if you have a spiteful former girlfriend, and worried about sugar in the tank....

I agree with tonyko. Why do you need that?

i literally just installed the GM one this weekend... put together the lock to work with the factory key.. took all of 15 minutes for me to set up the lock, uninstall the stock cap, and install the new one

for me its more about someone adding something than removing something

You need a trunk monkey, with optional gas door access.

I ordered the factory lock and keyed it to my car key. I ordered mine from Maureen @ Rodgers Chevrolet. You can't beat the price. Plus she always send extra goodies.

In my last car someone tried to siphon the gas out of it while it sat outside in front of my house over night. I swear by locking gas caps, just sayin'

There is a device in the filler neck that makes it next to impossible to siphon the gas out through the filler neck, jus' sayin'. More likely would be a simple hole drilled into the bottom of the tank. Or your catalytic converters being stolen. Or your wheels magically vanishing.

The valid concern would be something going into the tank that isn't exactly the correct octane, though, if ya know what I mean.

If someone wants your gas bad enough they will open your fuel door with or without a locking mechanism. If I was going to steal gas from your car...obviously I don't car about your car then so I am going to bring a crow bar and pop the fuel door open one way or another and then steal your gas. Its only a deterant, not going to stop the person who really wants your gas.

I am patiently waiting for my trunk monkey in the mail. I hear they are good for a lot of other problems as well!

+1

I really like the fact that I don't have to carry a seperate key for the gas cap. It's one less thing that I need to worry about losing. Maureen is the best for parts, plus it's free shipping.

I think that is a step or two beyond sugar. It is however 190 proof (drinkable)when it comes out of the still before it gets poisoned to meet federal requirements.

That just makes it a pain when you need to fill up and have to get that key (from your car key ring or the glove box)to unlock the cap. Been there done that.
