A/F ratio going hay wire
Hey everyone,
Reporting my first issue with the car sense the Turbonetics install in July. This past Saturday while driving back from the ski resort I was costing down the pass and the AFR went to 20+ as normal but as I got back on the gas it stayed at 20. This had never happened before as it normally shoots back down to 14.5-7 instantly. After a half mile as I started getting scared and looking for a pull off, it went back down to the 14s. It happened one more time on the way home. So yesterday I go and start the car and the AFR is at 20, then after 30 seconds it dropped back down to the 14s. I blurp the throttle it drops into the 13s then shoot into the 20s again for about 30 seconds. I re-uploaded the Turbonetics tune and same thing. The car runs fine, no missing, coughing, falling on its face. As well as no trouble codes have been thrown. I know AFR are controlled by the MAP and oxygen sensors as well as the ECM under normal operating conditions, is it possible one is getting ready to fail. It seems weird to me that the O2 sensor on the PLX devices kit would be going out only a few months old. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks Ben

I had very erratic readings on my WB once, and it turned out to be the connector to the sensor had started to melt. Too close to headers. Worth checking also...

On my Aeroforce wideband sensor, it takes 30 seconds for the sensor to warm up before giving an accurate reading. Before the sensor warms up it reads 19.8. This is normal and stated in the instructions.

wideband sensors seem to have a short life span. Yes some last a long time but most only last a few years. With a Aggressive setup maybe less then a year.

It could be that your heat circuit in your sensor starts to go bad. When you coast down and injectors are shut down, sensor gets out of operating temperature. This will make it read high number, since it's not actually reading. They do wear out and old sensors always start to read higher A/F values than they actually are.
Change the sensor and see what happens.
