My dealer KNOWS not to put mine on. He promised me a new front bumper if they accidently do it. I will be putting a motorised hidden plate at the front.

Those motorized plates look EXCELLENT! Can you wire them up so that it only comes out when you take the parking brake off or at least only when the ignition is on? (I'd even like it to only be out when I'm in Ontario and hide away when I'm in Michigan :-)

Will this work with a 2SS with ground effects? Can you still get the cowl off with ground effects on?

The had a manual one for display so we went out to place it on the car to see where it would sit and how it would be oriented. They came to the conclusion, and I agree with them, that putting the plate on the center (at the point) just made it look ugly. Sort of a big buck tooth. They thought putting it off to the side would be better. It does look better. Sorry I didn't take any pictures while we were doing the fit-up. The other concern of the curvature of the facia is valid. Unfortunately I don't think you can shim it enough. I am going back with a camera to take some pictures to help me decide.
Thats what I want to do, I want to place it where it is on the passenger side on the front bumper and attach it from underneath...

Unless you are speeding and going through red lights and stop signs, a cop is not going to bother you. I got pulled over because a cop wanted to see the car and had questions about ordering one. He did not even notice the front plate not being there.

Yeah here in CA for the most part they don't worry about it. Unless they want a reason to pull you over or if you piss them off they may site you for it too.

Does anyone know the requirements of having a front plate if you work on a US Air Force Base? I've noticed that when you go on base, they "look" at your front plate to make sure it's not expired. But what about the military people who are stationed here, but claim their home residence (and have their cars licensed in) a state that doesn't require front plates? I've seen cars on base that don't have front plates, but for the most part, I think they have a DoD windshield decal. I know a few years ago everyone used to have these decals, but they no longer made it a requirement to have them on your car, because of security reasons. (People could target cars in public that had the DoD window decal, and potentially use that as a way to get access on base).

I live in Missouri, and don't care so much about the cops pulling me over for not having a front plate, if they even make a big deal about it around here. I'll pay the fine and go on. I would rather do that than ruin the look of such a beautiful car once I get it.

The only thing that I do care about is being able to get on base without a front plate, because that's where I work, as a DoD civilian. Kinda gotta go there, because no work, no Camaro. :(

I'm not sure how things are done now but when I was in the Navy (ten years ago), the IDs they used were ridiculously easy to fake. I doubt they would stop using the DoD decal and rely on uniforms and IDs. Talk about easy to get into a facility. I'd say, if there are people there without front license plates, you'd be ok without one as well.

My Dealer hasn't completed the NJ Plate transfer so its not been installed yet. In looking at the product there will need to be some modification made to accomodate the plate in which the frame slides given the angle of the front bumper - I think my Dealer can handle it - we'll see and I will post pix when done.

I did get a "We Owe" form from the Dealer indicating they owe me a front bumper bracket - I intended to use that as a ready excuse if the Show N Go is a No Go while I figure something else out...
Follow-up -- We tried to install the Altec manual "Show N Go" and as pointed out in other posts the angle of the front fascia is too steep - the bracket the license plate rides on needs to be horizontal and there isn't enough room lower on the fascia toward the air dam to mount it well.

I messaged Altec with the issue and they don't have a solution so far - I recommended a wedge which can be fastened to the notch in the fascia on either side to create a surface the Show N Go bracket could be attached to... I may stop by a fabricator who can do the geometry and see if this can work - the angle needed may make the Show N Go too exposed to be function let alone look good - cost of the custom wedge may make this unreasonable as well. If I get a quote I'll post it.

Here's a couple of pictures of the fascia I sent Altec seeking a solution.

It takes so much away from the front features of the car that I am willing to risk getting a ticket. By me it is like a 25 dollar fine and won't even show up on your DL.

A front plate is required here in Cayman but I don't give a dam , I'm leaving it off and only putting it on for inspection. Come on we are all driving camaro's, those slow pokes will be behind us anyway after we blow cross them.

I'm leaving mine off. I too live in California... and my dealer said that you don't need it. This is pretty true... I have a 99 4Runner that has been driven all its life without a front plate, and we have never gotten trouble for it.

And... I can't believe people are going through all this trouble crafting these special plate holders. have you guys heard of double sided tape?
