Mom got her first Camaro on September 29, 1966...an Emerald Turquoise Coupe........(demo, of course) and Grandmother got a Granada Gold Coupe the same night......

Mom (and Dad) have had many Camaro demos over the years -- and even Grandmother had some 'memorable' ones -- like her 69 Hugger Orange RS/SS -- which never went over 40mph........

Cousin Sue has her 1967 RS Convertible that was originally her demo -- it was sold in late summer of 67 - and came back on trade in, I believe, 1977 -- and so she grabbed it and put it away......

Cousin Tom (of Tom Henry Racing....) has a couple put away -- one of which is the White 98 Brickyard 400 Pace Car convertible that's found in the late 4th gen catalogs -- (group picture...)

Dad went to that Great Chevy Showroom in the sky in the early 90s -- Mom's still around - a very healthy 80-something -- and drives her 2002 Camaro daily. (Red of course -- with silver stripes...) She's been granted "honorary membership" in several Camaro Clubs -- and still goes to NEOCC's annual show as well as PACE , Bowling Green, and a few others. She's very much looking forward to Indy this year as well.........

She's already told me that she wants an Orange 5th gen coupe ASAP........

So -- yup -- Camaros have been in my blood from the very beginning.

My first "owned" Camaro -- a 1973 Type LT

My first company car Camaro -- a 1977 Z28 --
Well, then -- there's no discounting the fact that Scott has Camaros "In the Blood."

Many of us do, also. Made me think of "Better than Ezra's" song "In the Blood." I don't care if that song is ambiguous, it's the thought that counts.

And, no doubt that "Deperately Wanting" has some contextual relevance, as well:

Oh yes, and these colors "Don't Run!"

I'm full of anecdotes! "I'm here all week...Try the veal!"

My Aunt owned a 1975 Camaro, white, with a bright red vinyl top. When she decided to sell the car, unbeknownst to me, my Dad talked to her about buying it and surprising me with it for my first car.

So, when I think about my Camaro, and the previous 4 I've owned, I always think of my Aunt, and especially my Dad.

My mom bought a '69 new in '69. Fathom Green, 327/ Powerglide (on the column). When I was born, I came home from the hospital in it. It was the car I learned to drive in. We've been inseparable pals my whole life.

In 2002, my son came home from the hospital in it.

1969:

1999:

Hopefully next year, I'll have a 2009 photo with both the '69 and the '09.

Any word on color schemes? Would love to get one in Fathom Green.

i was the only one in my family to have a camaro(99) but my grandpa had trans am's. in a way this car just reminds me of my 99, but reincarnated.plus this will be the first even NEW car that I will have purchased. my 99 was leased. so its kind of a important car for me to finally own one brand new and actually keep it and respect it because i will have the title to it.

Yeah My folks were gonna give it to me, but you can see it didn't work out that way. A lady ran a red light and whacked my Mom. Luckily she at least trying to slow down before impact. Just a little too late. I loved that car.

No kidding, The officer that worked the accident said that if she had noticed my mom half a second later it could have been much worse.

My mom walked away just a little sore nothing major.

My family has owned Chevrolets since the 1950's. In the South (and I'm sure other Southerners can agree), whether you drive a Ford or a Chevy (GM) is a matter of pride, and switching loyalty is akin to suddenly telling people you're a vegetarian or that you think guns should be banned. It's liable to get you disowned. Never mind what might happen to you if you started driving a Hyundai.

Growing up in the 70's, my dad and my uncles had: '70 Buick GS, '69 Olds 442, '65 El Camino, '69 AMX (cool car, so we'll let this one pass), and a '70 Chevelle SS454. Personally, I always thought the '69 and particularly the '70 Camaro were the end all to be all. So, my first car in high school in was a '70 Z28.

Sadly, I got rid of that '70 Z a long time ago and only one of my uncles still has his muscle cars, but the memories remain. Today my wife and I have our '70 Chevelle SS454. Nothing puts a smile on my face like firing up 454 cubic inches of raw American horsepower ... but I'm hoping (and I have faith, Scott!!) that the new Camaro will.

Probably should have mentioned this in my previous post, but I was actually conceived in the back seat of a Camaro. I guess that explains everything doesn't it?

I've said it before and I'll say it again................That is one of my all time favorite musclecars!!! Seeing as though I can't decide between a few, that basically ties for first place. So.....if you ever need to send if off to a new home.....

I owned a 1980 Camaro V6 and a 1988 Trans Am GTA (bought new). I'll have to scan in some old pics and post'em later.
