well im saying that I has a cylinder misfire. They pretty much randomly thought that the cat was bad. They didnt do the procedure that they did to the op's car. After replacing it, my car still acts reallllly funny and im beginning to worry. Now I am thinking that the problem could have been something like the op's.

The engines are not interchangeable without a ton of work and cost, so op will be getting an LLT.

With that said, what would you insist in an LFX?

Power Train is 100,000 miles, not 36,000

My guess would be for the easier ECU to work with than the LLT other than idk why

Heck, here is your chance to get a V8, couldn't hurt to ask about the additional cost to go with a V8 if you are swapping motors.............."gee I could have had a V8"....

In the old days you could. A V6 to V8 swap in the days before computers, fuel injection, and a billion sensors and codes that are all engine specific would require nothing more than a cherry pick, some wrenches, and a Saturday afternoon.

Today? I would imagine launching the space shuttle is less complicated than trying to put a V8 engine into a car engineered and designed from the beginning as a V6.

Thanks bro, I am so naive to think things could still be done in the backyard under a tree with some beer and the ballgame going on. What was I thinking?

They are replacing the engine. Anyone have any info on if the percentage of 3.6s they have been replaced?
That's great to hear that your dealership is taking care of you under warranty. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

A bit of an update. One of cylinders had a pin hole leak. My service tech says they had casting problems with a certain line of engines. It'll be early next week before I get it back, the engine comes out of the bottom.

I asked to get the info on what line (batch) of engines this could affect.

Somewhere on camaro5.com there is a video of the very first 5th gens being assembled in Oshawa, and it shows the marriage of the body and chassis sub assembly. Very interesting, in that the engine, radiator, suspension, and all drivetrain components are pre-assembled on one line, the body, doors, and interior are all assembled on another line, and they are brought together and bolted up at a sandwich "fork" of the two lines. The engine is installed from the bottom and pushed up, so I guess it makes sense that it must come out from the bottom!

Another update: Still swapping engines since last Wednesday. The dealer says GM says 10 hours to swap motors, they are 40 hours into this. GM says they had a bad batch of castings in their 2011 engine, didn't say how many in the batch. My warranty will remain the same, will not start over with the new engine.
