Future of the ZL1

Jw what you guys think, with the new corvettes coming out and the 6th gen camaros not that far out anymore what do you guys think will happen with the ZL1 in the next 3 years? Do you think there will be a 6th gen model thats lighter and faster?

I was getting ready to order mine and I gotta say I think I need to see what this new C7 is all about first and maybe see if by then they will have any info about the ZL1s in the future. What do you guys think?

Next Generation Camaro/ZL1s might be based on the Cadillac ATS-V platform. AWD would be sweet. While a twin turbo V6 is likely, there is a rumored possibility of using the supercharged LSA. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/cad...arged-v-6-news

The 6th gen Camaro will likely be lighter and the ZL1 (which I bet will get made) will be faster. But its a very long time to wait. And who knows what it will look like. If a Vette appeals to you that much you might benefit from waiting to see what the C7 is like. But in the meantime realize you're missing out on a lot of fun. Personally, the C6 styling never appealed to me but thats me. At the end of the day you gotta buy what gets you excited..

I bought my 2012 ZL 1 as a place holder for fun while waiting for the Gen 7 2014 Corvette. The JAN 2013 Car & Driver article on the new vette has me drooling even more. The main problem is that the ZL1 has really grown on me. I love it and am trying to decide if I should keep it and buy the 'vette too. Great problem to have. Don't wait, get the Camaro and have fun now until next summer when Bowling Green starts delivering.

Cheers - Boyd

I'm having the same problem, if the C7 is sweet!!! I will trade in my 2012 ZL1 for the C7 if I can't resist.

While we wait for the 6th Gen, has anybody heard anything about any kind of changes/upgrades for the 2014 ZL1's?

For 13 they added the mirror, the backup camera, Mylink radio, etc. What will they do with the 14'?

Bring out the 2014 LS7 Z/28 so you want to buy three cars: C7 Vette, ZL1 and a Z/28.

...I would love to see that Pete, but my intuition says later than sooner for the Z-28 until the Gen 6 release. I think the 2014 Corvette new release will preceed the 2015 Alpha Gen 6 Z-28. Only the Shadow knows for sure....but I am surely waiting on that Z-28, and it would be so cool if we coulda had the LS7 in it next year with all that 1LE and other goodies we discussed on the Z-28 forum for 2014. To what the OP inquired aout, I feel the ZL1 will be discontinued for the next Gen Camaro line.

Even if there will be a supercharged 6th gen, it might not be released the same year as the base models. So we're looking at.. 2016? 2017 perhaps?

I think im going to get the best of both worlds..im 27 with a house and a gf that contributes to my utilities so I think since theres a lot thats about to be changed up I will just buy a nice low mileage Zl1 but one that was nicely maintained. That way in a few years if they do have a better one out I wont lose so much.
