Onstar Red LED light and IPOD not responding
Looking for any help here. Had intermittent ipod sync issues as alot have experienced. So I took the car in a few months ago. New software was installed and module 8/24/12. I deployed overseas and did not use the usb port. Once I returned I have found the ipod does not sync at all and now I have a red LED light on the review mirror next to the onstar button and the onstar does not respond. I also noticed I stopped receiving the monthly diagnostic emails about the same time the new module was installed. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Does a flash drive work in the USB port?
What version hardware/software did they install? If the USB port (PDIM) is still working, connect a USB device and press and hold the Menu button on the radio till you see the hardware and version display on the radio LCD.

I cannot tell what version is installed. Can I tell the hardware by part number on the invoice? The PDIM does not to appear to be working and pressing and holding the menu button does nothing with device connected or not. |

Additionally I tried the stereo jack below the USB port with the same results.

It is possible the red light on the mirror is related to a dead back up battery on the onstar module. To check the firmware on the pdim. Plug something in and hold down the menu on the radio and the firmware should show on the display.

That red LED is letting you know something isn't connecting correctly. Press your OnStar button, you should hear beeps, and it may take 7-10 minutes to connect. Once you reach an advisor let them know you have a red LED and need technical. If there is no beeping or you have further concerns, send me a PM with your information. -Jessica, OnStar Advisor Social Media Team |

Is there any relation either software or hardware between the PDIM and onstar system? |

The USB port is for flash drives or certain mp3 player that works like one.
I use a Sansa Clip, small enough to fit into the box and less than $50

Update on things....onstar is back up and working and was a different issue.
PDIM was replaced again...thought the issue was corrected but encountered the same issues on the 700 mile drive to visit family....hardware/software versions are DB/DB. |
