Leak from Diff

I took the day off of work to go pick up #4058, I worked with the tech doing the PDI. While the car was on the hoist we noticed a leak from a hose going into the diff. We wiped it and noticed it was a steady drip. Started it up and it was a constant flow. It looks like the fitting is not seated on the diff or the diff case is even maybe no good. They are going to try and order parts however they do not know when they will be available.
Glad we caught it before I made the trek back home and had her resting for the winter. Anyone else have any issues with this part?

Same problem here. Only leaked when it was running. Tightened fitting 1/4 turn & no leak.

We tried that as well and it leaked more. The top of the fitting is not flat on the case like the line behind it. I think it has been cross threaded. The Technician thinks it may need an entire new housing which would be a big job.

I can see the o-ring behind the one that was leaking and can't on the other one. I was thinking the o-ring might of been compromised during install. It hasn't leaked again though.
Keep us posted abuot the dilemma. Hope they can fix it.

I am sure it will get fixed. Just sucks to have a major repair before I buy it.

Why can't the line be disconnected to see if it can be installed without cross threading? Unless the threads are damaged. It should be repairable, unless The dealer is waiting to hear from GM on how thy want to handle it. It will be worth the wait even if it has to have a new diff.

They tried to tighten the fitting with no success. They then loosened the fitting and tried to tighten again, he said it didn't feel right. It then made the leak even worse.

That is funny, I have car #4059 and we found the same problem with it on yesterday also during PDI. Obiviously this a consistent problem. The problem seem to be a defective crimp on the hose, a new hose was ordered for next day.

Mine is fine. I check it at the last oil change. Sequential ZL1s with the same issue. Looks like the installer was having a bad day that day.

With a cast iron case you would hope that if it was cross threaded the fitting would strip not the diff case.

Hope they get you fixed up soon.

Nice, i guess you are my little brotha haha. Mine is leaking from the case and not the hose. I am hopeful it is the fitting and not the case.
