By 1970s, I mean bulky and plastic.

sooo, do they have a harness made to retro this onto a 2012?

I read through the pages believe it or not but I'm at the end of them and with all the does a 2012 fit on a 2010 etc posts I'm turned around

I'm planning on upgrading my radio to double din and move the rear-view camera there simply because I like the new mirror that much, so trying to figure out what I will need when I get rdy to pull the trigger on everything.

No he does not yet. I suppose you could choose the custom plug and play harness but there is no option for the frameless mirror. You and I are in the same boat as far as what we want. Maybe the V2 works but doesn't say for sure that it works with the 2012 models. Either way it definitely doesn't do the backup camera re-direct.

can the install be done without utilizing the OnStar garbage but still using the autodimming feature?

I always figured that even though I dont like being forced to have onstar added to my vehicle, that if you don't hook it up it would start sending warning messages that onstar is off line or something....is that not so? If not Im on board with just the dimming feature.... :P

Try me next month, but you will lose the back up camera part from the mirror.
