1LE Options/Resale Value and What the Car Needs
Hi all,
New member here. I currently own an '05 GTO and used to own an '08 Corvette. A local dealer has a black 2SS/RS 1LE but doesn't have the NPP or Nav and apparently there is a moratorium on new allotments at the moment. I really liked the NPP option and Nav would be nice. Originally, I wasn't going to go for the RS package but a car like this should have HIDs and fogs (silly that they're not standard). Three questions: #1: How much does NPP/Nav affect resale value? I know these are new but the regular SS has been around a while. #2: The 1LE package really is a night and day difference, fixing a lot of the "problems" the SS had but is there anything the car still needs? The Hurst shifter seems a lot better than the stock one but still not great (I hated the C6 shifter). So maybe a billet shifter? #3: Are there aftermarket dual-mode options? I know there are on the Corvette and might just go with a good cat back. Or drive the hell out of it as it sits. Thanks! Max |

Also, will the GoLink app be available for the Camaro? Seems like a good alternative to built in navigation.
Thanks |

Welcome to the site. The NPP is a performance part and the dealer could install that.... around a 1000 bucks. Also I believe the nav could also be added by the dealer. Not sure what that would be.
I don't think there has been a used 1le sold so resale value is a bit murky. These Camaro cars are holding their value probably a bit better than most US cars on average. The biggest 1LE enthusiast who plans on racing would want a stripped down version. Don't know about the GOLINK. EDIT: the 1LE comes with the zl1 sts it is very smooth. way better than the hurst i had on my last ss. |

I realize that there are no used used 1LEs could you tell me how Nav and NPP has affected the regular Ss ? I do wish the car had 200 less lbs or 50 more go but I'll take it |

Actually I hear what you're saying. Stripper cars are desirable but do they hold their value better than the loaded ones?

I would say shorter term the loaded car will hold value better. Most people that will buy used will want something nicer than they can afford new. For example, I can buy a new stripped 1SS Camaro for $36k or I can buy a loaded 1LE 2SS with nav, NPP, and RS for $36. Most people have no intention of racing and will want the optioned car. But long term, 10 years and beyond, it's the rare car that holds the value. Lower production numbers help the collection potential.

Find one the way you want it. You would also need a new rear lower piece for the exhaust. Non nav mylink will not have nav buttons so no upgrade.

Is there an edit needed? Same price for both cars? |

No edit needed. A used 2SS 1LE in a year or two will sell for $36k. The same price as a new stripped 1SS. If you are trying to decide between the two as a daily driver, most people will take the optioned car. Most bang for the buck. Only the purist would prefer the stripped 1SS.

Max P.S. do you know how much weight the 2SS adds? I wouldn't mind a stripper but I gotta have that HUD! |

There were several threads about it before. I will try to dig one up. If I remember correctly, it was around 100 lbs but don't quote me on it.

I also had an 05 GTO. I installed a 441 LS7 in it last year. Put the car back to stock and traded it in for the 1LE I'm patiently waiting for. Before that I owned a 99 vette with a 427 LS7 I installed. Gonna be hard going to a wimpy 426 HP but the overall package , from what I hear is going to be amazing. Point being, depending on the mods you are planning will also determine what the car will be worth down the road.

I have a 2013 with the npp exhuast and it has a nice tone to it. But, it is not as dramatic as the vette. I pulled the fuse for my mufflers and I didn't think it was much louder at all. Pull the fuse on the vette and it was substantially louder. I think the dual pipes square off the back of the car a lot better and that is worth more than the actual exhaust. The different exhaust pipes make the car look a lot different from the rear. I think it will ad resale later on, because a lot of people seem to really like that NPP. I know the vette guys love that NPP. Just my 2 cents

RS package, Nav, Sunroof and NPP to me are the options that will give the car the resale value it needs. The other options won't matter, ie (nickel plate fuel door, floor mats)
