Passenger door alignment

Figures that after I bought my camaro I notice that when standing at the rear of the car looking forward. I see that the lower rear edge of the passenger door, ( below the handle, above the btm corner, sticks outboard a little. The drivers door is a smooth transition from rear edge, blending with the rear quarter panel. Everything else on the passenger door lines up real good. I was at the dealership today and was looking at all the new camaro's on the lot. Out of about 10, 3 or 4 of them looked like mine. I really don't think it can be improved any by adjusting the hinges or the door striker. The top and btm fit good. The window fits and seals real good. I would hate to have it adjusted then to create some sort of wind noise. It seems like the contour in that area of the door did not get formed correctly in the form die when it was manufactured. Here is a pic of my drivers door compared to the passenger door. Anybody else noticed this on theirs?

There is alot like this, and there is alot not like this. Just seems like a $40,000 car would have the fitment of the door perfect. When I see $20,000 cars going down the road with perfect fitting doors, it just makes me wonder why. Me, knowing that there are a few brand new camaro's on the lot that look like mine, make it easier to take. I can live with it for now. I have talked to the body shop at the dealership about it. I did not hear any good news on fixing it. Im thinking maybe one of those paintless dent repair guys could maybe reshape the edge a little to blend it in better. I dont know, just a thought.

My point is I'd rather leave it then potentially make it worse, which for some reason always seems to happen to me.

For the love of God, please don't. This would be horrible. Sorry to say that if alignment can't help it you either need to live with it, replace the door with one formed correctly, or move the quarter out (also a FTLOG no...). The quarter position could also be the root cause, which would negate a door solving the issue.

Sorry. I don't even want to look at mine tonight with regard to this.

As of what I read in a book of the making of the Camaro, these doors are the longest on the market now, so that could make it harder to align.

I won't. Im just going to live with it. Im a toolmaker by trade, so I am used to forming and shaping metal. The thought of me getting some sort of rigging set up to gently reshape the edge myself has entered my mind. But I won't. Actually one time on the drivers door I opened it and the wind caught it and banged it against a wall. It bent the edge in a bit. I was really upset at myself. Later I got a block of wood and hammer and bent it back. I was very happy with the fixed results. But I will just leave my passenger door alone, for now. And your right, it could be the shape of rear quarter panel causing this in that area.

I just peeked. I'm pretty picky and I can say my car displays the issue a tiny little bit but not to the extent of yours. It would really show on a brightly-colored car so I guess I need to consider myself one of the lucky ones...

Good, im glad yours is not to bad. I noticed this door alignment problem a few weeks after I bought the car. I have looked at new ones on the dealers lot on a few different occasions since then and usually see some passenger doors that look like mine or some that are sticking out just a little bit. The majority of them seem to be fine. Like I said above, a few days ago I was at the dealer to drop my car off for a little warranty work and I looked at about 8 to 10 camaros on their lot, and at least 3 of them maybe 4 had passenger doors that look like my pics above or were just sticking out a little bit. The drivers doors are always good.
