Broken Seat belt Strap

I received a 2011 camaro 1LT for Christmas and it was kept at my fathers friends house for a week and then at some family members closer by for a few days before Christmas and somewhere along that time the leather seat belt strap was broken because someone may have thought it was a handle or something I don't know but it wasn't like that when it was picked up from the dealer.

The magnetic piece is still there but the other half keeping it attached to the leather disappeared and the dealership was asking $245 for repair because they need to replace the entire seat and said they can't just replace the buttons. I was thinking of purchasing some magnetic snaps on eBay, you know for clothes and purses, but the problem is most of the ones I find have the 2 prongs sticking out that need to be bent over a plate to keep them in place where as the ones on the camaro are the rivet style.

I finally found these and they're 18mm which appears to match the same size of the camaro when compared to a penny (19mm) and a dime (17mm) and the piece from my camaro is bigger than a dime but smaller than a penny.

If someone knows of a better set I can purchase I'd really appreciate it.

Broken Seat belt Strap

I'd be taking it to a dealer to have it repaired under warranty!

They were charging $245.00 to replace the entire seat, they told me the warranty doesn't cover wear and tear.

In my opinion something breaking isn't wear and tear it's a defect.

Brakes, seat wear, tires, fluids, things that are expected to be replaced, etc... is wear and tear, something falling off that shouldn't have should be under warranty.

OP I say take it to another dealer explain it fell off and see if they can just warranty it, doubt it takes a whole new seat and that a replacement strap can't be just sewn back on by any upholstery person.

BUMPER TO BUMPER!!!!

Your dealer will replace it under warranty. Unless you have more than 36k miles.

That's not wear and tear, that should fall under your bumper to bumper, I've changed 1 Camaro seat back leather cover for that problem with no questions asked. The cover is not hard to change and it can be done in the car, try a different dealer..

If the seat was related to a defect in materials or workmanship, then, under normal circumstances, it could be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. If you would like, I can contact the dealership to research the concern. Please send me your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage, and involved dealership name.

Thanks everyone, it's been sorted out. I drove back and they had a change of heart I guess and replaced the entire seat free of charge.

This is all great, but mine fell off and I'm at 50k. I don't think it would be covered in my 2012. So far, I just haven't used it, but what a shitty design!!

I have never used that seat belt strap/holder since I bought my car new. I just let the seat belt hang straight down. Never liked the cheap magnet design.
