I don't think we've met, so I don't know too much about you but, ask yourself a few questions.
Do you own or rent?
Do you have a retirement plan, gold, stocks, bonds?
Do you have at least 6 months of bills in savings, God forbid something happens?
How old are you?
I'd much rather have $$$ in the bank, my own crib, maybe even a rental properties or 2, instead of going and buying a ZL1. But you asked for opions and I gave $2K worth

No we have not met YET

1.) I own my vehicle and with rather on my next Camaro as well
2.) yes I have a retirement plan although dont really need one lol just got my life set out basically
3.) I am 21 turning 22 this year
4.) don't have my own house, but I don't have bills and have plenty saved up just dont like spending all at once. I have decided to strike out the ZL1 though its just something I would rather not get. I think I settled myself on getting a 2SS and re-add everything basically lol!. I can get a great amount of horsepower on an SS and add the mods to make it the way I want

Now mind you, this is only my opinion, and I'm only giving it because you asked for opinions: I'm twice as old as you, so I've pretty much seen it all, been there, done that....so take my .02 as you will.

Missionboi, actually I meant do you own your own home, I didn't think you rented your car from Avis

You have a very nice Camaro, why would you want to get any SS? Is it a V-6? If so, big deal, you're saving money on gas, and unless you're planning on going to the track to race it then what's the big deal?

As soon as you drive that brand new SS off the lot you just lost about $5-8K, even if it has 50 miles on it. Depreciation on cars happens as soon as you pull off the lot. If you have "plenty saved" although I don't know what your definition of plenty is, and it probably shouldn't be discussed on a forum anyway. Why not put that money down on a duplex, live in one half and have your renters pay your mortgage? Then you accumulate equity, then you buy another and rent it out, and the renters pay your mortgage, with rates the way they are you can probably double your mortgage payments and have a 30 year loan payed off in roughly 13 years and you'll be 34 with 2 homes free and clear? But why stop there, as you build equity you can buy more houses....That, my friend, is a retirement plan, not what these companies call retirement plans these days, people that had money in 401Ks & retirement plans lost everything when the economy took a shit 5-6 years ago. Or you can invest in precious metals, or certain stocks, or T Bills, CDs, that are guaranteed to show a nice profit. I just don't see why you'd trade in (and take a beating on the value) your good looking car for an SS, I see you ruled out a ZL1 (Good choice ), now is the time you want to make money and set up your future, not when your 35-40 and have a family, kids, etc...It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to put a kid through school and I don't just mean college. When I was 24 I had 6 properties, that were rented out and paid off by the time I was 34, and accumulated 10 more in those 10 years and that was 10 years ago, so I won't even say what I've done since then, but I have no bills, no children, and a wife that's a doctor @ 34 y/o. I collect rent, surf, and play with my cars.....Money is power, not an SS and I only say that because you have a nice car and asked for opinions. In todays shaky economy, now is the time to build your wealth, you're not going to live with Mom & Dad forever.........Are you? And again, I reiterate, I only say this cause you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, but opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. Take it for what it's worth. But I will tell you this, you start investing now at your age, by the time your in your mid 30s, you can buy pretty much any car you want and probably not even finance it. So good luck with your decision And sorry to sidetrack our HT thread.

Your opinion and your .02 cents added is greatly appreciated my man! Dont worry I took it all into consideration. I totally agree with the way you see this situation. I agree with the Investing in homes, stocks, gold, etc. I do have a retirement plan set in my banking system, but as well in work. Not always going to live with my parents, but typical mexican families tend to not let go of there children lol especially my family and I appreciate what they do for me. I prefer to keep my life out of camaro5 just because its not something I like to "brag" about and I tend to tell people that I really hangout with and trust lol (HT family) But when I meet up with you then you will find out! till then my job is anonymous lol (Dont take it the wrong way, like you said, sharing money info is not something you should do online). I have investments being passed on from my family so its not really something I NEED to focus on.

The reason why I want to sell and get an SS is because its one of my dream cars. Yes I def ruled out the ZL1 and would rather just stay with an SS because it is something I always wanted. I am making it more like a movie car was going to do it to mine, but would rather start fresh. Yes the power is nice, the sound is way better, and yea ur right I wont take it to the track, but just like you lol i love cars. Yes I love my car it has a low vin and was one of the first it has great power with the supercharger its just all around amazing, but I know what I really want and its a v8 . I think it will make more sense when we meet though maybe on the 19th. Or when we get closer to warmer weather have a meet at my house like we have planeed the passed like 5 months lol, but just couldnt get everyone to come.

But like I said I truly respect what you had to say and yes I did ask for opinions and it was greatly appreciated!

If any v6 in our group wants the RX supercharger we can maybe make a good deal trying to see if my car will sell with it on, but I everyone who has contacted me over Craigslist and autotrader have asked it to maybe be stock so I think that's my best bet right now
