Need some tire suggestions.

Currently living in AR, and run the car on a strip probably every other week/sometimes once a month depending on conditions.

The whole launching a M6 with street tires is getting old and want to replace with some solid DRs. I have looked into Nitto 555rs and Nt05rs, but would gladly consider other suggestions. Its fairly new territory to me. The drag strip I drive to is about 95 miles away, and the Camaro is my DD.

I know the 555rs are somewhat reliable in rain, and the car will not be driven in snow. They also seem to have a longer lifespan than the Nt05rs. The Nt05rs are the obvious winner for pure traction, but with the long drive to the track, and the car being a DD with about 30~ miles a day driven I'm just somewhat worried about their lifespan with moderate to heavy strip use.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Go with the 555R's, anything else and you're going to be buying new tires every other month, especially on a daily driver.

Have you tried dropping the air pressure on the stock Pirellis? I dropped it down to 23 PSI HOT and practiced the launch a bit. It helped enough to get me fast enough to be banned to race again at that track without a helment.

Yea, I am running them at about 24 right now and still slip a bit. I have a complete BMR rear end and some bolt on power adders + suspension. Launching anything above 3k is spin city.

Probably will run with the 555rs. Thanks guys!

I would get a set of 18" corvette reproductions and change them at the track. Or even changing before you go there some NT05R's would last a good while and be much better.
