I have gone through at least 2 full tanks of gas .. due to the weather other wise I might have gone through more!

The car had about a half tank of gas when I bought it. I asked the dealer about the fuel and they said it had premium which in ontario typical means 91. My Dad has an 06 SSR 6.2L and only runs 94 octane since he had it tuned. We had a few talks about fuel since I take his car to some auto shows during the summers. Anyways, I already planed to take my Camaro to get a professional performance tuning in the spring.

I knew I would be using 94, so I ran the car pretty deep into empty before my next first fill. It was really fun burning down that first new camaro owner 1/2 tank of gas!!

Tomorrow I will put the fuses back and take it out for a run. Since I am still new to the car in general, I am not likely to notice a huge difference to some long time owners. I am not much of a mechanic, more of a driver! So if anything, it will be mentally faster for me now!! I will let you know how it goes ... of course depending on the weather here in ontario.
Keep us updated! I plan on doing the same once I go through another tank of gas.

So I fused pulled last night and today the weather was good enough to pull the vert out of the garage.

Keep in mind I live in Ontario and our roads are dusty with sand and salt. Right now the roads are snow free, but feel really "sandy".

I am pretty fortunate to live near a "goodyear" tire plant that has a really nice mile long race track .. i mean service road.

Because the roads were dusty, traction was a bit of an issue off the line, but I have to say guys, it does seem more punchy. I turned off the traction control and when I was at around 110kmh (70mph), I stomped the pedal. The ass end totally broke loose and i did a nice S curve power slide down the road! I do not think before I pulled the fuse I would have had that same umph. But its hard to tell. I guess the main thing is that it feels more throttle responsive and punchy to me.

I was out getting the kids some grub and had some time to play around in the Camaro. I do not have dyno numbers or computer readouts or track times, but it sure the hell feels like i am now running 94 .. could be all in my head.

So i have an LS3 with a custom tune. I remove the fuses, will this erase my tune? And i got tired of reading to find the answer on the LS3 but does it work for them or just the L99?

You have a tune so you don't need to pull the fuses

Okay - got the second tank of 87 (both dealer fillups) down to under a quarter and filled her to the brim with Shell 93. Gonna pull the fuses tonight and see how she goes in the morning. Right now she's a bit sluggish when I get on it, even without punching it hard. Wish me luck.

My idle seems a bit choppy, also when in M mode rolling on the throttle in each gear at low rpm the power seems a little hesitant/shaky and then it goes.
Overall part and mid throttle driving around feel pretty torquey but full throttle not that impressive to me.
I timed a zero to 60 on a flat road and it seemed to be around low 5 sec without any launch.
Are these symptoms of a fuse pull?
The salesman that sold me the car claimed that they put premium in...

Is the trunk fuse pull absolutely necessary to reset the fuel tables?

Not sure what you mean by trunk, but to just be clear. The fuse box is in the engine compartment under the hood (or bonnet).

No a fuse pull is not the ONLY way, but it is the cheapest.

1. Plug fuse 5 & 20 = Free
2. Dealer reset the table = $$$
3. Performance tuning = $$$

If you have the L99 then the fuses are 13 and 20 with 13 being in the trunk. 13 is the B+ voltage for the PCM.
I believe they talk about the trunk fuse pull in this thread as well. Two under the hood and one in the trunk.

They do talk about the trunk pull. I'm personally not sure of the requirement but it is mentioned.

I think the jury is still out on the trunk fuse...Technically, can't hurt, but I believe most have had good results just doing the 5, 20 fuses in the fuse box....

Maybe our experience is better placed here.

My wife bought a 2012 2SS V8 automatic convertible in November 2012. The car was born in January 2012. We are pretty certain the dealer filled it up with 87 Octane when we took it home. We have used 2000 miles worth of 91 Octane once the tank of dealer gas was empty.

This past weekend, I completed the fuse pull. The fuses were out a good 12 hours. Our experience was very positive. We both felt that the car was running better. It doesn't cost anything to do this. What the heck, we tried it. The engine, it seems to us, is running much better (idle and power).

[QUOTE=Tampa Tuning;6007301]I recently tuned a bone stock L99 2011 camaro with 20xxx miles on it. The owner from the start of owning the car only ran the car on 87 oct. Though this doesnt make sense to us performance minded guys, he wanted to save money on gas.

Although after tuning the L99, we had about a 7 RWHP gain on a completely bone stock camaro, the vehicle never defaulted to the low octane table. it had a good amount of knock before we started tuning, and we were able to minimize most of it, but it doesnt stay consistant with 87 octane.

I have siad in other posts, my car was tuned while on the low octane table, back in 2009, before fuse pull was known, gained 27 HP and 40 ft.lb. torque, then a few months later did fuse pull, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
