Camaro 1LE PCV System vs Catch Can
I am not big into doing mods and stuff. Since having my 2013 2LT and reading the forums, one mod that has caught my attention is the catch can and the reason for it. Today I came across the Camaro 1LE PCV System P/N 23102311, in the chevrolet performance catalog. The catalog states this is standard on the 1LE. I gather this has the same purpose as a catch can, correct me if I am wrong(this being cam5, i know someone will). And if I had any IT skills I would put a pick here but I dont.

I believe it runs along the same concept, but might not have the features that aftermarket products have. For instance, the ability to drain the oil. I have looked at that one as well, so interested just the same to hear others chime in.

I'm not an expert but...
The more I look at it, this kit really looks like a breather (using the stock air filter) with an air/oil separator and catch can (or reservoir) below it to minimize the chance that any oil would go back through the intake air tube and thus flow into the throttle body. I'd like to know if after hard driving it has any captured oil in it or does it let the oil drain back into the engine when the back pressure subsides. It sounds like you'd still need/want a traditional dirty side catch can even with this installed. I'd also guess this design does not have a one way valve (air in only). Because of that, you'd have no chance of making it a street legal component because of emission restrictions.

If I read the 2013 GM performance catalog correctly today, it says you can buy it for either.

Misprint. I have already confirmed with GM, there is a addendum coming out with corrections to the catalog soon, GM has stopped shipping all catalogs until the addendum is complete.

Ok this is a clean side device, equal to the RX Breather. So you will still need a catch can for the dirty side which is the oil that goes in behind the throttle body. This is 95% of the bad crap. The 1LE device is for before the throttle body going into you CAI tube.

Its only a clean side mod but sure helps on it. No need for the RX breather if using this, but the dirty side accounts for 95-98% of the oil ingestion so the RX can is needed for sure!
