What is the best Oil filter?
I am wanting to see what oil filter most of you use and what is the best. I searched but it did not bring up a link for this topic. What do you think Fram, Wix, A/C Delco? Does anyone use K&N?

Too many horror stories about fram to use them. I stick with mobil / k&n (they are the same) or napa gold (made by wix). There was a link kickin around here somewhere detailing all the major filters and who makes what (and which ones good).

Realize one thing guys......CasmaroLS has an ls, thus a V6, so his filter is just the paper element, NOT a spin on.
CamaroLS, what I use, and have been for many years with never having an issue on eany of my cars/trucks is Frams ExtraGuard Filters. the filter material is finer and more dense. OR you could use their ToughGurad which will filter out even more....the ExtraGuard will trap 95% of contaminates where the ToughGaurd will trap 99%. both filters.

I've been using a Wix for my V6. I can't imagine any brand name being bad but I change em every 5,000 - 7,000 miles and I'm using full synthetic. I think keeping the oil level maintained is a bigger issue than the filter.

Pretty much anything but Fram. I've read that the more expensive ones are better(Dura,Extra Guard) but usually I just stick to AC Delco. It's interesting to see the differences. Just go to an autozone and open the boxes and compare ones made for the same engine. Those Frams are
Wix is always highly recommended and Mobil/K&N/Royal Purple are all good too.

Fram is junk. I would stick with K&N or Mobil 1. You get what you pay for. And fram can be bought at Walmart for 3 bucks. What does that tell you?? Alot of dealers will offer a bulk discount if you buy a bunch of filters. The best way to go if your dealer will do bulk.
