I don't think the comment means "the hood off the new Z28" - that's just wishful thinking on everybody's part. I think it means it's a new hood with a Z28 style scoop on it.

I don't really like the look of bumble bee 2 .. I really hope that is not what the Z/28 looks like. It has way too much going on .. Looks a bit too riced out to me.
I would rather it be a bit simpler like Jinx's design. Maybe throw in some fender vents or make the gills in the quarter panels functional. Similar to the differences between the Base model Corvette and the Z06 .. Subtle, but stylish. |

The problem is the z28 nameplate is owned by GM, GT500 along with Cobra are a Shelby nameplate therefore does not affect Ford in anyway as far as CAFE and the government is concerned. If and I've been saying If for a while a higher performance Camaro comes out it may have to be by an aftermarket tuner. GM could lets say sell the nameplate to a company like SLP. SLP takes your order for a z28 and goes ahead buys from GM a SS(V8) and modifies it to it's specs and calls it the Z28. Unlike the 96,97 SS which was licensed. The problem with that is GM s not making any money other than selling the Z28 brand name and selling a V8 which it may have sold anyways if there was no Z28. There you go that's the hope I see for the Z28 especially since The GM HIGH PERFORMANCE division is gone now.

I'm glad that they said that. Remember folks, rule of business and any economical problem. If you want it we will build it. Make the the Supply to meet the Demand. Last time I checked, Z/28 was done, finished, and ready to produce. I do believe there is an IVER with a Super charger, maybe the hockey striped car? The fixed costs have already been paid. GM would take a loss in the New Product Developement column if they don't produce this car.
Let me hit you with some knowledge. Not too much cuz the Moderators will kill me. I'm a Consultant for restructuring companies in Bankruptsy. I know I'm a different ball park with Medicine but it's mostly the same. In GM's case they have to change the product as well as the business practices. I'm just changing the business practice aspect of service providers. GM now has the best chance of all three of the car companies. Why? Because of their potential product diversity. IMO dumping Pontiac is a mistake but I'm not behind that wheel. After bartering their debt for equity, Killer move by the way, (except you had better pay the Fed bill faster than grease lightning), GM can keep producing in-demand-products i.e. Cruze, Camaro, Malibu, CTS, and any GMC truck other than Yukon. So, why you say will Z/28 be produced? I call it the "black label" theory. Don't get me wrong, If I wanted a 500+ or Super Charged Camaro, I'd get the SS and drop a SC in there are be done with it. But, it's not black labeled. It doesn't set me apart from the crowd officially. For car lovers, there is a level of pretentiousness that sets them apart. Our day is ruined, ney our lives, by scratch or dent on our babies. This black label gets you into the club, set you apart and give you the right to say "Suck it Trebek." Oh sure, when I get said ZED, and I will, she'll scream up and down the road. I'll be damned if I don't get her to show me what she's made of. So to make a Long story short (too late), GM has no choice but to build this car. Put CTS-V on order only, Tool the plant to put out these Z's. Technically, WE the tax payers own 60% of the Company, WE could swade them to bow to our wishes. A pretty thought, but not far fetched. If we want it, they will build it. Long live the Z/28!!!
