![]() I think the Z07 model like the Z06 will be a force to reckon with and quiet possibly the baddest car available at that price range. I will NEVER be able to afford a ZR1 but the Z0/anything foots the bill perfectly. I cant wait...you will see one in my sig....mark my words. |

Give it a ZL1 supercharger, take away the AFM items and then you'd have something for the "base" model. Oh and make it under $60,000 with the LSD and magnitic ride.

For the price, i don't think you can beat a ZR1. I understand the new vette is a "Base" model and there will be more Zxx to follow. Im just saying with the 450HP announcement, i feel its loosing some of its glory, since its little brother (the Camaro) is making 130 more HP. . All said an done, I am a car enthusiast and can appreciate anything thats cool (even a GT500 :-)). On top of that I love Camaro's and Corvettes and have owned multiples of both and would love a new vette, but would not trade my ZL1 for it. Just wish GM stepped it up a bit more.

I owned a '06 Z51 C6 vette...and it was a great car but I learned my lesson. I always buy the 1st model year and subsequent years there are always better versions. Hell look at the ZL1, if I would've gotten a '13 I would've had the fancy Mylink touchscreen. ON my '07 Ducati 1098, I would've gotten traction control standard and even an extra 100cc engine if I would've waited 3 yrs and on the corvette I would've gotten rid of that ugly XM radio antenna and gotten more horespower if I would've waited a few years.
Having said all that, the New C7 is absolutely gorgeous, although the tailights are not my favorite, they are growing on me a little. Still, I would not buy the 1st year of this car. The entire car is new from the ground up, the only thing they used from the C6 was the cabin air filter. This means there are bound to be some bugs to work out with all that new technology and after spending $60k on this car I don't want to be their guinea pig. I would seriously consider trading in the ZL1 maybe 3 or 4 yrs down the road for a C7 Z06 though. I think if you are trading the ZL1 for the new Base model C7 or even the Z51 it's not worth it. Acceleration should be the same for the two cars with the ZL1 having a slight edge with all that torque and handling should be about the same or I'd give the edge to the Stingray. More power is easy to obtain with our cars too (pulley and tune), so that will never be the reason to upgrade...it's more for the looks and interior that I would trade up to a corvette again. Right now though I am happy to own the top dawg Camaro plus I'm done buying cars that dont keep their value. My next sports car would be a C7 Z06 or GTR...the ZL1 thankfully has done well enough in all its tests to be considered a budget supercar and beats many exotics so it will always keep it's value better than a base vette

Another thought....Could GM have decided that the Corvette no longer has to be the Poster Child??? Maybe they take the Zxx Camaro and Zxx Stingray models to new levels and have 2 power houses. Maybe the SS and Base Stingray become more equal yet still appeal to different buyers. Or maybe the Corvette takes a new route and the Camaro becomes GMs power house.
Stranger things have happened.....haha |

I think i'd have to drive one before I consider. I enjoy the power of my ZL1 and believe it or not the rarity. I've only seen maybe 4 on the road so far since getting my car in April. The new Corvettes will be everywhere. I do miss being able to take my roof top off, a feature that I enjoyed on my Z28, I however did not enjoy it leaking!

There's always been a Base Corvette for the majority of sales and they always had a less powerful engine. Those that want more can up for it: Z06 & ZR1. |

I think the point he was trying to make is that the power for the base engine should have been increased more than a measly 20 hp. Remember the C5 Z06 with 400 hp in 2004? The next year the base C6 Corvette replaced it and offered 430 hp so yes I also agree it could stand to have more than 450 horsepower. Maybe it should replace the current ZO6 perhaps in terms of power.

Also another thing I can't figure out is why has Chevy improved the base Camaro engine and have stroked the horsepower up at least twice since it's introduction but never touched the SS engine? Also why does the V8 Automatic have less horsepower for the same price or maybe even more money than the manual? The base Corvette has the same horsepower no matter what transmission. Why is that?
