I've now read this whole thread, and gone and done my bowties, I really want to try to Plastidip classic racing striped, any idea on how to get the tape parallel and to make sure everything is aligned with the rest of the body? Also, should I do the front, roof, back, and lip spoiler? Comments on all of my questions would be appreciated.
I love everyone's Plastidip here your cars all look great! Also would black Plastidip stripes work on cyber grey? |

I gotta get some of this stuff - looks like fun! It's a shame it doesn't come in gloss, but the satin has a pretty good sheen to it.
If taping off an area to paint, the multiple layers at 30 minutes or so between coats doesn't try to come off with the tape?

5 min between coats and then peel the tape off immediately after finishing the last coat.

You need to do 2 heavy coats. A few minutes apart then peel right off after the last cost. If you wait to long the first coat will dry then it will still stick to the tape.

![]() Seems that would definitely cause the tape to pull the edges of the Plasti-dip away from the surface, but I don't think you'd want to apply additional coats over a "wet" previous coat. I do realize that if I screw up I can just peel it all off and try again, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. Maybe I'm just over-thinking this. Should I just do as C586 states?

sorry. I really need to update those.OK. You want to start with a few light coats - allowing about 30 minutes of drying time between coats. Then after you get those laid on you want to do one or two heavy coats with about 5 minutes in between them. Then after you finish the last coat you want to immediately pull the tape off. |

Few questions.
I got a set of wheels second hand that needed some work, as they had been sanded and painted with rattle can paint. I had the wheels glass bead sand blasted, and now they are just bare metal with a very fine surface. My question. I have not had extra money lying around to have them powder coated. I was wondering if plasti dip could be a temporary solution? Will it come off of the blasted surface? If not peeling off, what would remove it? I don't want to do it if I'm going to have to pay to get them blasted again when I go to powder coat. Thanks!
