Self tinting mirrors...

The mirrors on the Camaro self tint when they are struck with light from another vehicle.

To all you owner's.... Does your passenger side mirror also tint? Only the driver's side and the center rear view mirror on mine tint.

Just seeing if I need to get it looked at....

Yeah, it is only on the driver side and inside mirror, not supposed to be on passenger side. This feature is only on 2LT and 2SS as well.

They self tint when it is dark... not when it is struck by light from another vehicle.

mine are always tinted when i pull out of the garage, but un-tints after a few seconds in the sun

Now, this is completely uneducated, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but they are most likely dark when you pull out of the garage because the difference between the dark garage and the sunlight. Once they "adjust" to the light they untint. Again, a completely uneducated guess so it is very possible I'm wrong (you have the car and I don't after all), but it seems to me like a safety hazard to have them tint from darkness. Not only that but I can't quite grasp how that would even work. I'm thinking they are more like those self-tinting prescription glasses.

there is a sensor in the rear view mirror and when it notice a car is behind you with their lights on the glass dims. the passenger mirror doesn't dim.

if you dont believe me go get a flashlight and try it.

This is how it's set up on my Quest: on the forward-facing part of the mirror there's a sensor that is for detecting the ambient light level outside and one on the rear-facing part that's for sensing headlights behind you. If it's bright out, the rear-facing one is either disabled or the car ignores its input.

In the garage scenario the forward one saw darkness and the rear saw bright light, so it dimmed. Once outside the forward saw sunlight and the car switched to "day" mode.
