Man am I pissed lol
So.
I was driving into my local hospital parking lot 2 nights ago and misjudged how high they had they're curbs ( which by the way is insanely too high ) and this scratch happened on my right side bumper. I know it's my fault but damn am I upset about it. I went to a local shop today to get a repair estimate 750.00. They are insane. Like really. Starts telling me gonna take 3 hours to get bumper off and sand it down they are messed so now the hunt for a less expensive shop begins. Or buy a new bumper. Maybe a zl1 lmao |

Try the paintless dent removal type of guy. The few I have know also fix bumpers all the time for dealerships no less, fill spots and paint them just like new. Dealers pay these guys to do those type of jobs instead of their own body shop guys in my experience. I know a job like that is about $350. Those guys don't remove the bumper.

WOW....that's a chunk of change for just the rear bumper. About 4 month back I accidentally back into the edge of a truck bumper. I had to have the rear bumper redone as well as the whole quarter. When you deal with the quarter the back quarter window has to come out which means the back interior has to come out as well. All of that and my bill was $900.
Get some more quotes.

You should be able to find a cheaper shop. But I'd seize the opportunity to get a ZL1 front bumper

Well if you really want that ZL1 bumper... here is your excuse lol, but that's going to be way more than just fixing.
Good luck on your decision!

If you're brave you can fix it yourself for less than $100.
Go online and get the aerosol touch-up base color, clear and sandible primer. (1 can ea.) Get some body putty and tape. With some 1600 grit wet-sand paper, work out the deep scratches. Fill the deeper ones with a light skim coat of body putty. Wet-sand again (2000-3000+ this time). Mask off the area, prime, wet-sand again, base color, clear, wet-sand, rubbing compound, polishing compound. You're done. White is the easiest color to touch-up. I did my kid's Mustang trunk lid for him before he sold it. (Paint was actually peeling.) Took a few hours on a Saturday and Sunday. By the end of the weekend it looked just as good as new and he was able to sell the car for a better price. If you've never done it before, find a friend with a beater and ask him if you can practice on it.
