Really? A thing called All wheel drive might have something to say about that.

Heres the MT comparison of ZL1 vs GTR:

The GTR is just scary, seen a bunch of vids of it punching way above its weight. Manual drivers will have a hard time, every time you shifting gears, it just pulls ahead.

Road and Track did a horrible job representing the ZL1. They tested it in temperatures below freezing at high altitude. Then they wondered why the track times were so slow. They had trouble getting the ZL1 to run high 12s in the 1/4 mile in those conditions.

But I will agree that the GTR is a monster. Its capable of running 10s (bone stock). It's power is always under rated along with AWD and it hauls axx.

With a cam and other bolt-on's, from a roll I was able to take a stock '09 GTR. From a dig it wasn't close. You can't beat all wheel drive for a great launch. Looking forward to another Airstrip Attack now that my car is making more power with a Maggie.

The brand new GTR's are making 545 hp @ 6400 with 463 tq @ 3200. The older ones were 460-480ish. Impressive for a 6 cyl, but the transmissions aren't that great, but they have improved a lot since the first couple of years. Getting more power out of the car isn't cheap, but it is possible.

If you look around on YouTube you can see all kinds of video's from here in SoCal of a couple of very high hp GTR's (Blue one claims to have over 1000hp) getting schooled by a black Z06 that was making less power. Z06 driver destroyed him in his '12 TT 5.0 from both a dig and a roll. The driver mod is crucial!

Agreed,
A Camaro SS with a well setup TT and supporting mods (plus tires) could take a GTR in a drag race.

But as you mentioned, I've seen too many Camaro SS with forced induction running 12s at the track. Especially when you show up to the track running 22" wheels.

The GTR's AWD and suspension makes it a heavy hitter. As much as I don't want to admit it, I think the GTR would win in a straight line. In a road race, it would depend on how well the driver is in the SS and how many long straights there are....that's where the TT would really do their work.

Um GTR every time every track every type. Refer to Motortrend's best drivers car November 2012 issue. ZL1 had 580hp the GTR had 545hp
ZL1 lap time at Laguna 1:39.2
GTR lap time at Laguna 1:36.3.
That's 3 seconds no matter how you slice it or dice it.
ZL1 quarter mile time 12.1
GTR quarter mile time 11.1
That's 1 second no matter how you slice it or dice it.
ZL1 0-60 time: 3.8 seconds
GTR 0-60 time: 2.8 seconds
So the second stays a second all the way down the quarter mile.

Mod both cars dollar for dollar mod for mod and the GTR still has it.
Even stock GTR to TTSS you better have some seriously modded heavy hitter... On and BTW the GTR is also heavier at 3887 lbs. I have been in a FI Camaro, a NA modded Camaro, a Z06, and a GTR around a few different road courses and VBOX marked 1/4, 1/2, and mile runs. GTR FTW.

Don't get me wrong I love my Camaro but it is no match for the GTR.

Also 13 GTR with a midpipe & a tune runs 10.56 at 127 in positive DA.

For those who done know what a midpipe is its 1/3 of the exhaust system, think H pipe.

I doubt that your little sister could launch one... It is a bit more involved then just standing on the gas.

Yup, they were also $80k, if you could get one that wasn't marked up $15k-$30K. For that much money, it better be fast. If they weren't such a maintenance nightmare, I would have gone that route over the Camaro.

The '09 launch control would also grenade the transmission if you weren't careful, and sometimes even if you were.

they would only break if you launched the car over and over
