Dang, I just posted a reply and it disappeared. I was asking what your goals were for the car HP wise, and how do you use it - street car, race car, fun car, etc?

I love my KB, I just wasn't happy with the results of having to rebuild the tranny because their Customer Service sent me something they claimed to be something that it's not. A fix. JRE's custom 4" intake tube is going to be in my first round of parts orders that I send out for my new build. I've talked with Ted, and about his experiences with similar setups and I have full faith that this is a true fix.

Local car is making 820+rwhp through an auto with one. Only issues is the tranny doesn't like all the torque. I know 5.0s are making 620-640rwhp with KBs just bolted on.

The stock intake is too big, messes with the MAF and screws with the trans tables (again, through a A6). The delay that it caused was actually so bad that when we would make a shift point at around 6500 it would rev out past 7200+ and I'd instantly let off, I didn't want to find out if it would end up finally shifting. (we played with different shift points and still had the same problem). Then if you have the rev limiter set to 6800 or whatever else, it would just bang against that and not shift. My car didn't experience these problems until after the KB install, and when KB sent the honeycomb and ect, same problems persisted and that's when 2nd gear went bye-bye (so much for that being the fix eh?). There was a thread about this very issue a long time ago.
Again, I love my KB (power and looks) but it's upsetting to just bolt on the kit and have it piss out second gear before even being able to enjoy a FI car. If I would have known that before hand, I would have went with a Whipple or TVS2300 because you don't hear about any similar issues with those. OP wanted to know some positives and negatives about this blower, I'm just giving the guy what he asked for. It's important to let people know about these issues than to throw it under a rug somewhere to try and hide it like it's not a problem.

I've owned the 2.8LC in the recent past and got rid of it... IAT's are extremely unacceptable. Besides, KB has horrible support and offered a lot of lip service when we complained about the IAT's . I wouldn't do it if I were you...

Again unless you're serious into tracking it constantly, IAT's are NOT that big of a deal on the streets because EVERY blower will heat soak after driving it around. Also, if you really check the IAT's of the KB to other PD blowers their much closer than you think.

I was looking into actually getting a KB, but thank god I was on this forum and saw people complaining about the IATs or else I would have got one and then been P.O. I have 0 intention of running meth/water so high IATs are definitely a deal breaker for me. I mean don't get me wrong, KB is beautiful and makes good numbers, but I think whipple is more logical.

Again, unless you are into SERIOUS tracking all the time IAT's are not an issue with the KB, and even if you were into serious tracking the difference between the blowers are pretty damn close, and again if your serious about tracking you probably will get meth, HE upgrade, or chiller on any blower you pick which would void the whole IAT argument anyways. EVERY. SINGLE. SUPERCHARGER. WILL. HEAT. SOAK. on the streets. So if a street car is all it's going to be, pick what you like the best because you won't notice the IAT's.
People who go "Bah IAT's are too high on the KB, their crap" are either 1) uneducated about the KB and other PD blowers. Or 2) a troll.

![]() Obviously you didn't read my previous post, AT ALL. Are you trying to tell me that other blowers won't heat soak, or climb to high IAT's while driving on the streets/constant track use? ![]()
