Need insurance help! Ridiculous rates!

Well I thought I was getting a Camaro and this was the last thing I even thought about since I am 27 years old now....

My situation is that I have not had my own auto policy for the last 3 years because I have had a company leased vehicle through my previous employer (Nielsen Media Research) we had a fleet of vehicles through a lease company. I tried to get quotes through Progressive and Geico and the amount per month for full coverage on the SS1 is around $275 and the V6 is around $220. I have a clean driving record no tickets or accidents and cannot figure out why these quotes are so insane....

Does anyone know how to possibly prove or show that I have had insurance through my company's leased vehicles or am I SOL? This is the only reason I can think these rates are so high unless its because Baltimores insurance rates are this bad.

If I cannot get insurance at a reasonable rate of around $150 a month I am just going to have to drive something else as much as I had my mind set on this car.

Something doesn't sound right, 27 and they want $220 a month, call around. Do you have a DUI?

I paid like 600-700 a month or three cars, trailer. Do you have bad credit. Now if you have a license suspension or DUI that still might show. Theres a difference between having clean record and never having a ticket. Somethings show up longer than others, and you would be surprised how long stuff stays on insurance record, your driving record from the state doesnt always coincide with your insurance record.

Sounds like theres something your not saying or something you forgot about. otherwise call around. I do know that muli car discounts get you cheaper, but anything over 150 for a good driver is high.

Yeah I'm paying $120 a month for a 2008 HHR SS and a 2010 2SS Camaro. Through State Farm. I'm not much older, 33, married, but I do get a line discount because of my house and a multiple car discount.

My credit is average around 700.... But i do not even believe that has been factored into this quote. I have had speeding tickets but they were all PBJ's and have 0 points on my record. I have been into an at fault accident but that's when I was 16 and 17. Never had a DUI ever

well good luck. thats descent enough credit even if it was factored in, it shouldnt count. You might always try to get something else insured as well, which might help lower your rates, like if you can get renters insurance, home insurance etc, all under one policy

Erm.....Allstate wanted to charge me 500/month for a 2ss/rs.....
But then again I am 17....

And I'm still not sure who to go through It seems to everyone, a 17 year old that bought his own V8 Camaro would drive it fast, but I mean, come on! I'm a teenager, I don't drive fast.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm in Florida.....might ahve something to do with it?

Florida does have higher rates, but at your age it dont matter where you go. Your better off having your parents insure it, and your a secondary driver

Congrats looks better. Although your liabilty looks a little low, 50/100k is more of what you want. you could see some issues with you break something that cost a lot of money

Your company had insurance on the company vehicles not you. If you didn't have a car with insurance in your name, they are probably showing you to have a lapse in coverage, which will make your rates be high. Around here, if you have coverage then drop it for even 1 month, when you go back and get insurance for your car or a different one, it will show a lapse in coverage and it gives them a legal reason to jack your rates up if they want to.
