that has been covered in dept before, the conclusion was since there is a structural support right there it isn't going to give much

but some people have said they will try and do it, if they can't make it work for a intake it may work to give the radiator a little extra cooling, i plan on looking into doing something with it as well and if nothing else some extra cooling for track days is always nice

Strictly speaking about Ram Air-type systems, the hood open probably wouldn't help numbers, if much at all. The tests I've seen with a set-up like Vararam, on a C6, showed little gain while on the dyno', however, on the track, the gain was like .3 in the 1320'. It seemed to be a pretty scientific test too, as they ran the system with a baffle, blocking the Ram Air effect, and then hotlapped with the baffle removed. Anyways, I'm definately interested in a Ram Air-type set-up, and if they show similar gains on Camaro, I'll likely see if it will fit into the combination I'm trying to put together in my head.

I have not seen any figures on the air box, so I do not know what it might add performance wise. Any suggestions from anyone?

Also, my friend swears by the flowmaster 40 series exhausts, so I might take a look at that.
I would suggest holding out and waiting to see what Airaid and K&N come up with personally.

Flowmaster mufflers can sound good but suck for HP! We were racing a ZR1 a few years back in our 2nd Gen (525 RWHP) and as we were about to go into 2nd the camber blew out and blocked the outlet, I thought the engine was going! That was back in 94' and I haven't looked back!

The VARARAM kit looks like it could be easily adapted to the mailslot. You could remove the plastic support piece in the mailslot, "gut" it... but leave the strength members.... or maybe someone will come out with a new insert that breathes

seems easy to me... I will try it if I can confirm that the VARARAM will adapt to the backside of it with little effort.... (not duct tape)

Or better yet, if Vararam makes the adapter piece.... they will be the only CAI system that makes the mailslot funtional... thats pretty big in my book..... because I dont care for fake air induction cosmetics.
