Young people can have nice cars and be responsible I think. When my bro was 15 in 2009 he was kinda down in the dumps and dad got him a 2001 Z-28 for his first car. I had a 2002 SS same color and I still remember the day he got off the school bus walking towards the driveway. He thought the red car in the driveway was mine like normal, but he began to notice that there was 2 red camaros as he got closer. Tossed him the keys, i've never seen a kid smile so much. He never got a ticket, he never got in a wreck, drove really responsibly, and then last year he was upgraded to a 2012 RS. He's a college junior at the age of 18 and intends to be in med school by the age of 20-21. Made all A's his first semester at UT. He's a really good kid, i'm proud.

Not proud of that other dumbass kid however

I do not agree with the OP.

We bought our daughter a 2010 Synergy Green Special Edition Camaro for graduation from high school. She was 17 with a 4.0 and a full ride academic scholarship. It was not her first car, but pretty close. She has never had a ticket or accident. She will graduate from college in May after only three years and will start grad school in the fall.

My point is that not all 17 year olds are irresponsible. Some deserve a nice car and can appreciate the opportunity to enjoy a reward for their achievements.
