What's the "real" cost...

I know that some of you "frown" on this but I simply love the look of the front end of the ZL1. What is the real cost to add the ZL1 Front End (cosmetics, fog lights, etc) to a 2SS. My local dealer said they'd do it and "stand behind it" for under $2500. That price included parts and labor. Seems very reasonable to me (as I have never done any homework on this) and as I have ZERO time to try this myself. Just wondering (for those of you that have done it), what did you pay and who did it for you.

I sold my 2010 Camaro last year and am almost ready to order a new one. As much as I love to get a ZL1, I have a daughter headed to college in the fall and an extra $15K - $20K would go a long way. Just can't get that front end out of my head... GM would make my life a whole lot easier if they simply had that as an option...

For those who want to call me a poser, don't bother as I simply don't care.

I don't haven't heard much frown on the conversion overall other than by people who don't truly quite get the reason why one would want to convert from an SS or V6 Fascia to the ZL1. There's some pretty good deals online for the parts to do it. Will say the deal in the link to 5thgendiy seems to be one of the best prices I've seen considering all the hardware & trim you're getting with it.

I agree you can find better prices but all in all to have a GM certified place do it and back it seems worth the extra money to me. Jmho

Has anyone heard about the duraflex front zl1 bumper / hood? I don't have experience with any of their products and was interested in the look... any body know if it works or not?

I'm 19 and I did it all myself . Got the bumper painted from garyscustomz for $1475 and got bulbs and the harness from gen5diy total under 2000 and took me maybe 3 hours total.

you can get the zl1 retrofit package from gen5diy.com for less than your quote from dealer. thats painted and cowl lines fixed, lights, harness etc. it is a easy diy project and not only works great but addresses the lift issue of our front ends at speed.

i got mine with bellypan, front wheel well deflectors and brake ducts..getting the acs tl1 hood insert from there as well to complete the aero package and heat extraction.

All,
Thanks for the feedback. Based on all of it, $2500 is clearly a lot other than the fact that I can order the car, have the dealership order the parts and when I pick it up, everything is done. Need to order the car first so we'll see. Again, appreciate the responses.

I got all the parts minus the hardware (nuts bolts rivets) and foglights and harness, PLUS the side skirts for $1150 from the dealership no shipping costs. add paint $300. Fogs $65. Hardware (nuts bolts rivets) $40. H11 foglight bulb harness $10. so that brings me to $1565 for the front AND side skirts.
