depending on the vehicle, i refer to modding as truck/car sex.

Why "sex"???

Because in the end it's the satisfaction knowing the hard work you put into it, you got what you wanted and the way you wanted it.

So I'm usually telling the gf "I'm going out for some car sex!" She knows exactly what it means!!!

My dad is the worse. He claims that I am ruining the car with everything I change from how it came from the factory.

My wife rollers her eyes when I start talking about it. But then she says I work hard and deserve it. And she loves car when we got on date nights!

Our four kids thinks it's cool that dad has a "transformer" looking car. lol

I don't either, but I bought my Camaro for my own enjoyment and satisfaction. As a kid I always wanted a Camaro and a Corvette. Right now I'm enjoyin' the Camaro more than the C5 Vette I traded. That new C7 on the other hand is tempting though.

There is really only 3 people on this planet with an opinion i care about. My wife and kids. They are comfortable and happy and give full support to my hobbies as i do theirs.

There isn't a single area of the car i have not modded.

All of my friends and family get it and support me, my mom tells me it doesn't need more power but I beg to differ... they all realize this car makes me happier than I've ever been so if I have the cash it's mod time!

I've been modding cars off and on for over 40 years at this point. Most of my family and nearly everybody that I have ever worked with over the years just didn't/don't get it. Not even my son-in-law, who used to work in the automotive repair business as a tech. Fortunately for me, my wife is one of the few exceptions.

It helps if you can learn to do a lot of the nuts and bolts work yourself, and you'd be surprised how easily a necessary repair or maintenance task can become an opportunity to "upgrade". When a good chunk of the mod cost is covered by having to do the repair/maintenance in the first place, the mod $ damage never looks as bad.

It's nice to see others with understanding and supportive wives. I think that as long as you don't hide much or abuse your good fortune it'll hold up over the years.

My wife has severe COD. As long as she has cleaning supplies she doesn't care what I do. Even fingerprints on a touchscreen drive her insane, LOL

My 14 year old son continually tells me what mod I need next and asks when were goint to the track. He is a very bad influence on me.

My two kids in college don't seem to care just as long as I continue to pay their bills.

My wife doesn't understand why I am always working on a brand new car and doesn't like the unnecessary spending. I just remind her the bills are all paid, retirement on track and she knew the deal when we got married. I drove a Pro Street Vega daily, raced in stock eliminator and fixed her piece of crap car weekly. I am the same guy she married 22 years ago.
