Red looks awesome. It also looks better with the little chrome pieces blacked out imo

Looks too much like a Chrysler 200, 20ft away I'd be hard pressed to differentiate the two.

Perfect sleeper.

The G8 was well received by magazines and by most that new about them and actually drove them. Poor timing brought down what could have been a huge hit. No money was spent advertising the car and many people still have never heard of one.

Can't wait for the Chevy SS unveiling but I think we have a pretty good idea what it will look like based on last nights unveiling. Just need to see the front and rear facia.

I really like the idea of throwing the LT1 in it. GM keeps saying it's a four door Corvette. Lofty goal....

If it doesn't absolutely blow away a Chrysler 300 SRT then big fail. And it's already starting 40 HP in the hole (assuming it's LS3 powered. A surprise maybe today???) and the 300 has a pretty nice interior as well. And the stickers on the roundy round cars aren't very flattering either.

Keep my fingers crossed.
Maybe not greatly disspointing, but dissapointing thus far. Don't think making it a Chevrolet changes much at from what we see as a Holden. I was hoping they could have at least made the green house look different than the old car. To me this just looks like a nice interior with a front and rear fascia refresh. I'm pretty sure the Commodore had an LS3 version just like the G8 GXP did. So it's a lightly warmed over G8 GXP with updated customer and safety features. That's it.

The guy who had a Camaro and then had a family I don't think is looking for a big FWD sedan that isn't quick and only comes with an automatic.
I may be out in left field, but not many people are shopping just for FWD or V6 engines. Keep the 4 cyclinder Impala out of the equation that is a $30,000 car and you are correct, probably not going to be cross shopped.

If say for example both cars were $35,000 you better believe they would be cross shopped in the same showroom. GM has had that problem for years because they overlap cars and prices. My point was the SS HAS TO BE more expensive or this will happen. It's why we probably won't see a V6 SS coming here anytime soon. GM invested a crap load of money in two plants to build the Impala. You can't afford much cross shopping unless the aspiration car is insanely profitable.

That, the Australian $ and the big boat ride will likely keep this car expensive.

The way the Pontiac line went down was a total head scratcher. It was suppose to be the excitement line but they made boring cheap cars for that line minus the solstice. Finally they build imo the best Pontiac ever the amazing G8 only then they kill off Pontiac. It wasn't that the line wasn't profitable the cars they made sucked and the sales reflected that. Imagine starting over with the 2010 trans am and the G8 as your foundation then going from there now that's an excitement line. Epic fail as far as i'm concerned.

Where do you get the idea Pontiac was profitable?

GM gave Pontiac (at the expense of hundreds of millions of dollars) several unique body styles.

G6
Solstice
G8

but sprinkled that with rebadge specials like:

G3
Torrent

There were some absolutely wonderful plans that just never came to be. There just wasn't enough money to make it happen. You can rebadge or spend a huge amount of capital.

The revised fascia helps a LOT. Based on the NASCAR reveal, I'd wager this is really, really close to the final product. The Holden front is a little too boring I think.

My thoughts... The interior looks very good, maybe the best I've seen from Chevy. As good as anything imported.

But it does look a lot like an updated G8 like 3 said. More than I would've thought. I hope it doesn't get dinged for that.

I think we can all safely assume the SS will have either the LS3 or the LT1 and will make around 420HP.

After the GTO and G8, we'll see if the third time is a charm...

Hi hopes you are right.

Don't get me wrong this car with an LS3 and a manual trans would fit the bill and scratch the itch that Mrs Number 3s GXP did. I just was hoping for something sooooo god it would make me regret the S4 purchase. So far not quite there. LT1 might do that though.
