You can shift from 1st to 3rd (or any gear BUT 2nd) when the CAGS engages. In my 06 vette 99% of the time around town I shift 1-3-5. I'm not road racing and I can accelerate better than 95% of the cars around me going 1-3-5 so the CAGS is really no big deal.

Folks need to appreciate the fact that this little "trick" saves every Corvette and Camaro SS owner about $1800 in gas guzzler TAX.

And just think where that money goes and how it gets spent err wasted. Keeping $1800 from the politicians is more than enough reason to love the CAGS. Plus it’s easily disabled. On the Corvette the snap connecter is even labeled so you can easily find it.

It's way better than the one in the 4th gens. I don't even think I need to get rid of it. You can always program it out of the ecm.

OK GUYS! For everyone hating the skip shift, i dont know if you made it to the caddy forum and checked out the DIY skip shift eliminator, but i did and WOW awesome!!!!

So i did some research today and i ordered the stuff to make 5 of these, one for me and 4 for you guys...... So if you want one of these they will be quality made, with the weather pack connector, the correct pins for the weather pack connector, and the appropriate resistor, the pins and resistor will be soldered together, and heat shrunk, then inserted in the connector, and probably either a large piece of heat shrink to seal the end up or silcone, something to weather proof it. Price would be $15, ill ship in a bubble envelope. PM we can talk further, i have paypal, can provide pics also when parts arrive.

And for anyone unclear on how to do this mod, you simply unplug the male connector out of the solenoid on the trans, plug this female piece in place of the solenoid, leaving the solenoid unplugged, and go. I think i am going to try to find the part number for the male, so that a dummy could be made to put in the solenoid to keep dirt and grime out!

Let me know what you guys think!

I run first gear up to about 2200RPM and the skip shift doesn't activate. The few times skip shift did activate I simply shifted into 4th and then just shifted back to 2nd or 3rd.
I purchased a skip shift connector but I haven't put it in yet.

I know there's the homemade method of just popping in a resistor but I like the OE look of this one.

My 1999 Firehawk, and 2005 GTO had skip shft. You either have to accelerate a little harder, or run it up a little longer in first, and it wont try to skip shift. After you've driven it a while, you will get used to it, and it will almost never be noticed again. Who has a problem with "mashing the gas" on this forum anyway?

I would gladly have dealt with working around the cags rather than pay the $1000 gas guzzler tax like i had to on my 03 cobra.

Don't waste your money on a skip ship eliminator, Just ride it like it should be ridden. If you start out slower that about 15 mph it's going to come on. I haven't had it come on other than when someone in front of me started out slow. Other than that you'll hardly ever see it come on. If your afraid to use that little pedel on the right though you'll see it alot.

If it's coming on enough to bother you than you don't need a car that has 426 hp you need a walker!
