Phastek/Grant Revolution Steering Wheel

Ordered the Grant Revolution Steering Wheel in black on black for the manual Camaro in October 2012 from Phastek using their website.

Received a Grant Revolution Steering Wheel in black on black for an automatic with the paddle-shifters some two months later, just in time to ruin Christmas. WTF?!!!

The original invoice clearly states MT for Manual Transmission.

Despite numerous e-mails and repeated phone calls throughout the past three subsequent months, Phastek refuses to issue me a return authorization so I can return the wheel and have my money refunded. They are continuing to give me the run-around. Multiple promises to relay to me a return authorization via e-mail or phone have gone wholly unfulfilled.

As an international buyer, I have limited recourse (a lawsuit would only be throwing away good money after the bad) and am now resigned to the fact that I have totally been taken by a thoroughly unscrupulous company with no moral compass.

The decent and honest thing to do would be to admit the picking error on their part and refund my money.

I'm making this post as a warning to anyone considering conducting business with Phastek. Particularly if, like myself, you are not located in the USA. I was prepared to spend between $10-20k on parts with them. Now, due to their incompetence, ignorance and sheer lack of customer service, my money will instead benefit other companies.

Special thanks to Gene and the amazing staff with GM Parts House. Theirs is a company which truly sets the gold standard for all.

As to the steering wheel itself, it is what it is. Quality construction and a decent wheel, but surely not worth the $600 I lost on it. I have since purchased the upgraded GM leather wrapped wheel at a third of the price and am very happy with that decision.

In any respect, I have a black on black leather Grant Revolution Steering Wheel for the 2010-2011 Automatic (with paddle-shifters) Camaro for sale. Steering wheel is still "mounted" in box as shown and has never been installed on any car. Please see pictures below (excuse the poor quality cell-pics) and get in touch if interested.

Thanks

I've had nothing but great experiences with Phastek, so this comes as a surprise. Have you tried getting ahold of Ricardo? He has taken care of me on my recent purchases.

I'm glad that your past dealings have gone well and wish that I could say the same, but can't. It's been beyond frustrating and very disappointing to say the least.

I believe Hugo handled my order, however I've spoken with Sean and e-mailed him as well. I received no response to my e-mail, and when I've been able to talk with him, he promised on no less than three separate occasions to phone and/or email me an authorization for the steering wheel's return.

I've all but given up on getting any measure of satisfaction from Phastek. I've lurked around Camaro5 for probably about a year now, but only recently decided to actually create a profile here. Sad to say, but I feel the only 'forum' I had left was to voice my displeasure publicly.

There's nothing at all wrong with the steering wheel itself. I realize that it's a "special order item", however it is the INCORRECT product for my application. My car is NOT an automatic, which is why I ordered a MANUAL steering wheel. *sighs* It's not rocket science. Phastek Ph***ed up. Give me my money back. Should be simple, right?

So no, I haven't been in contact with Ricardo. Frankly, given my experience thus far, I'm not inclined to believe that he could (would?) do anything to improve the situation.

Understood. I would still check with Ricardo. Given your frustration though, I could see how maybe you wouldn't want to. Sorry to hear of your bad experience :(

Excuse my ignorance but does this wheel not work for your car just because it has the paddle shifters on the back?

Either way they should have at the VERY LEAST paid for shipping back and shipped you the correct wheel.

Nothing wrong with questions. If you want to be technical, I believe that the wheel could bolt on just fine. It would just look dumb as hell. And I think that most of us enthusiasts on here would agree that 'dumb as hell' just isn't an option for our babies.

The paddle shifters are designed to upshift and downshift the automatic transmission. the left-side paddle downshifts while the right-side upshifts. I've always viewed such paddle-shifters with great scorn as outside of Ferraris and other high-end vehicles, it seems more of a gimmick than anything. An automatic transmission with a computer will always have the last say when it comes time to shift.

As I have a manual transmission, I upshift and downshift with my shifter. I don't want a computer telling me when to shift my car, or worse, shifting it when I don't want to.

They offered to send me the 'correct wheel'. For which I would have to wait another two months to have built, thus bringing my entire wait time to four months, plus however long for shipping and clearing customs. It was after that "offer" that I asked for my money back.

As a bit of an update, Jason from Phastek did phone me today while I was sleeping. I work nights however, so I didn't get his voicemail until 9pm this evening. Hopefully he has some good news for me, but I guess time will tell.
